As a gameplay first type of individual I was somewhat apprehensive when a good friend of mine told me I should play this game. I've played a few Tales Of games before, Berseria & Phantasia and while I finished the latter I fell off of Berseria as the story and characters, and especially the gameplay failed to grab me. Fortunately this game is a step up from any other Tales game I've played in every notable aspect especially in combat and graphical fidelity. The combat was the star of the show for me as it was able to keep me interested when the story started to drag. While the combat isnt close to a Devil May Cry or Bayonetta it is one of my favorite systems in a JRPG along with FFXVI. All in all I'd recommended Arise with the caveats that the combat can get repetitive and the story can drag at points, but if you've played and liked other Tales games before you'll probably like this one as well.

This is a game we talk a lot about on the fanatical discord. But seriously, If you have never played a Tales game before, this isn't the best one ever and is sort of a middling experience. The game is long and grindy, and there is a new expansion soon. It is not a difficult game however. Arise is for certain types of players and previous Tales fans will appreciate aspects of the game.

At first I was skeptical about whether I would even like the game, but then I found a sure thing and just had to grab it. At the beginning the game was a bit tough, but with time the game became more interesting and the combat got better. If I now compare the difficulty level with previous Tales games, I clearly notice that this one seems to be the most challenging, especially in boss fights. I don't like to use items in such games, but in this one I had to use a few items more often. The story and the characters are very interesting and I have already taken them into my heart, the purchase was worth it.

Best tales game in years

This is, hands down, the best tales game in years. Probably since symphonia. The battle system is fun and feels like a natural progression of the one found i symphonia, and the story is interesting with good characters.
