About The Ascent

About this game

Developed by Neon Giant and published by Curve Games.

Take control of a worker that The Ascent Group, a corporate-run mega-metropolis, has enslaved, along with everyone else in your district. After a catastrophic event that sees the corporation shut down, your survival is threatened, and you must arm yourself and see if you can survive on your own.

You Belong to the Corporation; Can You Survive Without It?

The Ascent Group, a corporation that has enslaved everyone in your district, including you, has fallen after numerous catastrophic events that have brought it to turmoil. Now, alone and without the corporation, you'll have to prepare for the worst and arm yourself against the incoming threats.

Take Up Arms With a Friend

Play The Ascent either alone or with a friend, as you'll be able to travel through the world of Veles and shoot down your enemies. Just because the corporation has fallen, doesn't mean you have to be alone in your journey!

Customise Your Character

Engage with RPG elements, as you can select what type of cyberwave will suit your playstyle best. Level up, get new skill points, use numerous augmentations, and slay your enemies creatively! Use the most potent weapons you can find scattered throughout the environment to bring down your foes, as you'll use explosive weapons to your advantage.

I have not completed the game yet but it is extremely fun. Reminds me of an open-world Smash TV with updated graphics and adult humor.

Good game

The game is fun, the mechanics are good. The performance for GPU could be better and also the end game. I finished the game and found nothing else to do. I played all campaign solo.

The Ascent is a great little twin-stick shooter with a fantastic cyberpunk aesthetic. Add-in some RPG-lite elements and progression and you've got yourself a highly enjoyable 8-10 hours. Played and beat the game on Xbox last year but it's perfect for some on-the-go action using the SteamDeck. Not perfect, but a hell of a ride.

Gives me vibes of many other fictions, like Ruiner, Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runner, Shadowrun Mandalorian/Rogue One.... Titanfall. Great aesthetics and music helps greatly with that. Gorgeous isometric sci-fi detailed junk even when you don't have Ray Tracing, yiS! On mixed Ultra/High/Med settings it was running solid 1080p and 60 FPS on 1660Ti Max-Q. Gamepad worked fine, especially with auto guns but plays better with M&K. Not a fan of twin stick shooters, but this one just.. worked. also when playing co-op. Most of the weapons were cool-looking and fun to shoot, some augs were interesting. Grenades.. were working better with M&K I am afraid. There was good amount of customization of your character, at least when it comes to gear. Wish there was more pants that I liked and better way to see them at the shop. Some shops had angle problem with displaying guns. Would like enemies to respawn less often then they are. It make backtracking a bit tiresome. One time I felt difficulty spike happening but tried to do different ongoing quest and it was a good idea. Maybe it is not a super epic Sci-fi space opera, but I liked the story and a lot of characters more then I want to admit. o7

Insanely awesome game, hit every expectation I had when buying it, and then exceeded them. The visuals are STUNNING and put most AAA games to shame. The colors, the design, the architecture + the camera work is brilliant. There are a few rough "indie" edges in some spots, especially in coop where it likes to crash. The main downside of this game is that only host saves mission progress. Coop partners retain gear & levels, but will start at tutorial if they never played alone. Your main gear is Guns + Augs. There is an armor system, but never seemed that deep. Skill point allocation feels impactful per point and also boosts various aug damage. My only combat complaint is that your "Tactical" which in most cases in some kind of grenade takes forever to charge up and use. I know they shouldn't be spammed, but it's pesky. you can help this by dumping all your points in Tactical, but that kind of feels bad imo. In any case, this is a top notch Cyberpunk/sci-fi adventure. Story and voice acting aren't too shabby either. Combat is fun and acquiring new guns is rad. I say buy it!
