About The Citadel

About this game

Developed and published by doekuramori and Top Hat Studios Inc.

Any fans of the old-school, brutal shooters of the 90s will be happy to know that The Citadel aims to replicate just that!

Much To Conquer

You'll fight through six different Episodes, each packed with 30 levels! And, if you're really meticulous, you'll also find the additional six secret levels in each episode.

I'm a Boss!

Throughout your journey, you'll be able to defeat six big bosses! But don't worry, despite how difficult they are, you'll have unlimited continues — the only thing that will stop you is if your will breaks. Are you up to the challenge?

A Fair and Full Cast!

Aside from having a wide variety of enemies — from axe-throwing cultists to suicide drones and mecha tanks —, you'll also find fair fights. There are no cheap tricks like Hitscanner, all projectiles; as long as you can dodge, you will survive.

An Arsenal

You'll have 14 different weapons at your disposal, each with a secondary fire function. You'll be able to upgrade some of them or even switch to superior versions. In addition, you'll also find three types of single-use special weapons to spice things up!

It's Optional

Additionally, in The Citadel, you'll have numerous optional features for those that want more difficulty or replayability. As an example, you'll be able to make automatic weapons jam for more realistic and stressful battles!

Extremely satisfying FPS with a cool style and great music. Bosses suck and the environments get extremely samey though, even if the level design is pretty solid.

The guro is only skin deep but if you really dig into the guts of the game what we've got here is a mechanically sound shooter with good movement options. The map design also varies a lot in quality but you have so much to actually DO that there's a huge variety in ways you can approach things. Also it crashes a lot.

I got this game for under $2 on Fanatical in a bundle. The game is pretty fun for a while. I recommend it if you like Roguelike or Roguelite games, but those are not my preferred types of games. I can't get into having to start the whole level over again if you die. Other than these game mechanics, I rather enjoyed the limited amount of time I had the game installed. Again, if you like these types of games then I recommend giving it a try. Get it on sale and try it out.

This is a good first person shooter with a cool anime art style. Only downside is the environments look bland compared to the characters, weapons and mecha. What's the game does best is your power to sprint, double jump and later climb on objects. Many of the levels use verticality well. For example, one level you can climb on a wall and jump through a window to avoid fighting in the corridors below. Other levels let you jump across large gaps as an alternative to walking through somewhere with more enemies. Normally the game is gory. You can adjust settings to reduce the level of violence, so that when you kill regular enemies they simply fall to the ground with no blood, gore or tears.
