About The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes

About this game

In The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes, Special Forces have been sent to hunt down a weapon that can cause mass destruction... unfortunately, they find themselves in the middle of a much more dire situation, and it's your job to help them survive the night.

Five Lives

Throughout the game, you'll take control of five soldiers that fall and become trapped in an underground Mesopotamian temple, and it'll be through the choices you make that they either survive or perish.

Branching Storyline

Since the story isn't set in stone, there are multiple endings to The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes. Play through several times and choose differently to experience them all!

But the Show Must Go On!

If you make a bad choice and one of your protagonists dies, the game doesn't end there! The story continues, and you'll have to deal with the consequences of your actions. This entry of the franchise includes over 60 death scenes in total!

New Camera

In House of Ashes, the camera angle isn't fixed like in the other games — instead, you'll experience the story through a controllable 360-degree point of view instead, giving you even more control!

Hard or Not?

Additionally, you can choose from three different difficulties to better tailor your experience in The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes: forgiving, challenging, and lethal!

You Don't Have to Be Alone

Invite friends to join you in this haunting story, whether online or passing the control around! See who can survive the night.

Enjoyed This Game the first go around and getting ready to play it again

Enjoyed This Game the first go around and getting ready to play it again. I like being able to control the story and having to be quick on other actions. every time you relax for a drink or something a moment pops up where you have to hit a key lol. We streamed this game and the one main suggestion I have for this and the other games in the series is do not watch the commercials or any other videos on it and play it for the first time knowing nothing about it. It helps build up your interest in it and trying to predict what you think is going to happen. It Is best to play with multiple people. We liked pausing the game and discussing what we believe is going to happen before moving forward.

House of Ashes is another excellent addition to the dark pictures anthology. While it is sometimes light on the horror elements, it makes up for it with the most compelling characters we've seen yet. If you're looking for an action-horror narrative experience, you can't do much better than House of Ashes.

Great in fantasy-horror genre IF you are fun of this kind of "interactive movie" gameplay direction. I think was well made visually, audio was correct, & story was good enough as well to have a great experience.

Pretty limited gameplay, graphics actually nice. The story is the main interest and I'm rating it 3/5 because it said you only needed 1 copy of the game to play online coop with a friend. Its False. You need 2 or play local coop, witch can be done by passing the controller (or through steam together).

This game deserves commendation. IMHO Supermassive Games are finally back to the top since Until Dawn and Hidden Agenda! And if you liked the previous two Dark Pictures entries (which is perfectly fine, just not for me those) you will certainly enjoy this one!

I've been playing the Dark Pictures Anthology titles in order. There are definite improvements in each one. I still have to finish the last act, but from what I've seen it does not suffer the same criticisms the previous two games received about the endings. The game is broken up into less chunks than the previous games so there were not breaks when I was expecting them. I liked the characters and the atmosphere. QTEs can be very annoying to me but on the normal mode I found most of them to be reasonable and not excessive.

Why do I like this so much? I don't really know. There's a lot of visual glitches but also so many really heartfelt and emotional scenes. In a horror game. It's kind of beautiful. The story isn't overly complex, but the characters are. There's so much depth here that even if you lose a character, you get to see more of other characters, so there is so much to learn. I got really invested, okay?
