About The Final Station

About this game

The world is over

But it's not quite over for you... at least, not yet. And now that you've got thousands of tonnes of locomotive at your disposal, you've got a definite advantage over the infected hordes. This is The Final Station.

The real question is whether or not you'll help the survivors get to their destinations.... or let them die and loot their bodies. Sometimes people can be more trouble than they're worth.

YOUR OFFICIAL THE FINAL STATION STEAM KEY GIVES YOU:

  • A post-apocalyptic adventure about travelling a dying world on a train
  • A story that goes through 5 chapters, with large inhabited stations at the end of each one.
  • Infected are ready to stop your progress whenever you exit the train to look for supplies
  • Maintain your train in operating condition and craft valuable items from the resources you scavenge
  • Don't expect to shoot your way through the crowds of infected. Supplies and ammo are very limited
  • Pick up survivors along the way, gaining perks (and hindrances) for your troubles
  • Scavenge for loot at stations and craft useful supplies
  • Sell your loot at inhabited stations for useful upgrades to your weapons

Critic Reviews

60 / 100
"A fascinating journey that ends a few stops too soon. Its ending ultimately raises more questions than answers, and I was left largely unfulfilled. This disappointment bleeds...
70 / 100
"The Final Station has great ideas, but after a promising beginning, the game gets so repetitive."
85 / 100
"The Final Station is a considerably devilish adventure. The balance between keeping everyone you can alive, keeping a train rolling, exploring and scavenging overrun outposts...

Great story, atmosphere and feel. Really digging the vibe. Smacking the nippy little bitters with a chair or toilet is a thing of beauty! some challenging bits. managing your ammo and food counts. simple mechanics but done well. Love a zombie story, take a bite of this!

Great, if a little short, indie game you should experience without looking for spoilers

I personally think this is the type of game where it's best to go in completely blind. but if you NEED to know some information before you buy this, the game is a mixture of a survival game and a side scroller with some management mixed in. This is an incredibly unique game, a little short, but the gameplay and setting are pretty good. if you want more than that, you should experience it yourself, it's a great indie game

Hidden indie gem

Great indie game with a surprisingly competent story. Gameplay can get repetitive but it's a short game so I don't mind much

Do you like the dystopian, ambiguous and post-apocalyptic atmosphere of Half-Life 2? Then the atmosphere of The Final Station will impress you as much as I do.

The Evangelion-like world of the Final Station can be found as fascinating. Good work on pixel graphics, sound, music and conceptual designs. However, the game itself lacks narrative element which should enable the player understand stories and situations better than it currently offers. No introduction or tutorial on how to play the game in each part. Gameplay is somehow repetitive, as well as enemies to engage. Sub-stories available in the middle journey are not much interesting and almost have no connection with the main story. During the journey, the game makes you think that there is a lot of things to understand and places to explore in this world. Nevertheless, at the final destination, you will find out that you are wrong and should forget everything you have seen, which is very disappointing.

It’s short, about 11 or 12 hours if you take your time, but it’s a fascinating game. The atmosphere it creates through sound effects and music is a little haunting and mysterious, and if you’re a wimp like me it’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. You’re learning little by little what happened to everyone and piece things together, which is cool. It’s easy to start playing with little instruction, so just get it and start enjoying this quick little gem.
