About The Invisible Hours

About this game

The Invisible Hours is a complex murder mystery playable with or without a VR headset. Players freely explore an intricate web of interwoven stories within a sprawling mansion.

A group of strangers receive a curious invitation from the enigmatic inventor, Nikola Tesla, offering each of them the chance to make amends for their darkest wrongdoings. When the last guest arrives at Tesla’s isolated mansion laboratory, they find him dead – murdered. Disgraced Swedish detective, Gustaf Gustav, vows to find the killer amongst the other guests: a blind butler, a convicted murderer, the world’s most famous actress, Tesla’s former assistant, the son of a wealthy railroad magnate, and rival inventor Thomas Edison. But none of these people are what they seem.

The player is invisible, with freedom to follow and observe anyone in the story – or to explore the mansion for hidden clues.

Really disappointed - game initially loaded and was able to launch it. Played for a short while over a few days but subsequently trying to launch game it just gets locked up. Tried to uninstall and reinstall - same problem exists with game unable to get past a black screen. Please note all my other games play perfectly on my steam deck. Support for this issue was very poor. The biggest disappointment is you cannot even do a full uninstall and re-install the game (clean uninstall with deletion of cloud status info - which might resolve bug that locks game up). I suspect there is some game setting / parameter that is stored and I have not been able to remove / delete this. I am fine starting the game from the start but I did not receive any support that could address the locking up of this game.

Great concept, brilliantly executed

This game is not a game. It's an outstanding piece of live theatre that you exist within as an observer, piecing together a story across a large mansion as you follow characters and their motives and examine items. All that lets this down really is the lack of smooth turning and the graphics being a bit grainy generally. Otherwise, it's fantastic.

The Invisible Hours is a very great VR experience. It's like your in the middle of an old detective movie.

An amazing and unique experience. I’m 4.5 hours in and still coming back for more to see what else I missed.

I enjoyed The Invisible Hours quite a bit! It is a very Agatha Christie kind of mystery and the ability to follow each character and see their actions at different times is very neat. And when it goes on sale, it is super cheap! Definitely worth a try if you enjoy mystery games or unusual mechanics.

I went into this game expecting an experience on par with other "walking simulators" - in other words, a game that's bland mechanically, maybe barely even a game at all, whose quality is totally dependent on its story and writing. What I got instead was something much, much more engaging and memorable than that. The mechanic of seeing the story play out across a single timeline in an "open world" that you can navigate at will (in time and space) is utterly unique and completely transforms how you experience the story. There are so many memorable moments and surprises that feel specific to your experience and the order in which you discover them. And of course it doesn't hurt that the game is very well written - each character is developed equally, with compelling reasons to follow them around, learn more about their backstory, and figure out what role they play in the mystery. More than anything it's the actual feeling of playing the game that I'll remember, floating around the mansion, being shocked as I "hid" in someone's room only for their darkest secret to be revealed, slowly piecing together a mystery that wasn't just thrilling but also poignant.

Very underrated gem. This one is good even without VR, it seems short but you need to replay it with all the characters involved in order to uncover the truth!
