Taking part in an alternate universe in the year 2355 in the Halcyon System, take control of The Stranger (otherwise known as "the unknown variable") as you board a colony ship called Hope on an expedition to Halcyon. After something goes awry, 60 years pass instead of the expected 10. Your Choices Affect the Story
Approach the corporate-driven Halcyon System your way and affect the way the story unfolds. Your choices will affect numerous aspects of your time in The Outer Worlds, including which characters join you and the story development, but your companions, end-game scenarios, and even character build!
Perfectly Flawed
Take control of The Stranger, a character that starts off fine in nature but slowly grows flawed as The Outer World tracks your experiences... and what you aren't good at doing. Get a flaw from an assortment of 14 according to your playstyle — such as Plasma Weakness, Herpetophobia, Paranoid, Robophobia, and more — but also get a perk point to help you progress your build. This is an entirely optional system, however, so you can reject all forms of phobias that you'll unlock.
Assemble a Crew
Meet several characters as you explore the Halcyon System, each with their own personalities, abilities, and even missions! Embark on quests to see their motivations come to a completion and help them achieve their goals!
Embark on a Journey Across Halcyon
Explore numerous key areas in Halcyon, the colony at the edge of the galaxy owned by the Halcyon Holdings Corporate Board. Find your ship, assemble a crew, and go on an adventure across numerous settlements, space stations, and numerous other locations scattered throughout this massive world!

The Outer worlds is nothing incredible. The plot is tired, the characters are boring, you can't meaningfully interact with virtually all characters and the combat/exploration of the game is repetitive from the first minute.
But it is stable, gets all the mechanics to work fine and you are not unduly limited by the design of the game.
Honestly, the experience is weirdly similar to modern MMO's. The maps are mostly empty with groups of NPCs just waiting at multiple points around it to provide you with something to attack. All NPC's for you to attack have no differences. They all have the same type of attack types and styles. No matter the faction or type.
While the character stats are extensive, they don't really provide a different experience to the game.
I truly believe this game was overhyped and love because it arrived in a time where players were desperate for action/rpg content and they had old timer from Fallout.
While it is nothing special, the game will not punish you for playing it. Only hard fans of the genre will be truly happy here.

Great game!
For anyone who likes adventure games where you can search in every corner and find a little prize. Story is intriguing enough to keep attention, and weapons make you want to at least try them once.
Multiple paths to the story makes it so no one will play the same way (unless they're trying to). Would recommend at least checking it out, and grabbing it if it's on sell.
