About this game

Developed and published by Freebird Games.

To the Moon is a critically-acclaimed narrative title in which you'll fulfil a dying man's wish by artificially affecting their memories. Take care of Johnny, a dying man who's on his deathbed, and create artificial memories as you uncover his past and decipher why he could never fulfil his dying wish — to go to the moon.

Live a Final Life

Take control of Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts, two individuals who have dedicated their lives to the art of creating one final artificial life for terminal patients.

A Dying Patient

Take care of your newest assignment — John H. Wyles — as you help him fulfil the dream he never got to complete: go to the moon. Live his life and uncover his past as you learn about his passion, why he could never fulfil it, and give him a final, peaceful moment as his heart stops beating.

To the Moon

To the Moon is a purely narrative-focused experience as you'll witness the life of a dying man and alter his past to grant him his dying wish. Without any combat, an emotional soundtrack, and a heartwrenching story that gets straight to the point.

Critically-acclaimed

Find out why To the Moon received glowing scores across the board and witness its beautiful story with the Steam PC version of the game. Fulfil Johnny's last wish and have a new satisfied patient, if only but for a fleeting moment.

To The Moon revolves around Dr. Wyatt and Dr. Rosaleane, scientists who live in a world where it's possible to recreate memories. This allows the scientists to give dying people a chance to live out their final request. This game is the first installment. To The Moon tells the story of Johnny Wyles, an old man on his deathbed whose dying wish is to go to the moon. He can't remember why he desires to travel there, he's not sure why he's so passionately drawn to it but he finds deeply that he must. So it's up to the scientists to craft and decipher his true desire of why to help his dying wish come to fruition. They have to traverse his memories, all of which are cheerfully happy, bittersweet and full of tragedy. Memories are messy and how we perceive them can develop how we carry ourselves. The game heavily revolves traversing Johnny's innermost thoughts and his most personal moments to implant the memory of him visiting the moon. This game is beautiful. It promotes the provoking exploration of love, loss and desire. The game also covers various topics that touch the hearts of many, the very complications that make life ever so beautiful. Mental illness, death, heartbreak, tragedy, all covered in such a charming and captivating way. The story is enchanting and the musical scores hold such a closeness to my heart that I can't help but find myself NOT to share the experience with others, I give this game to everyone I enjoy being around, I find it to be a piece of me now and I can't help but want to share these moments with others. It's such a lovely game. Buying this game on the Freebird Games Website allows you to purchase the soundtrack, a purchase that a percentage of course goes to aiding various mental health charities. So if you feel a little charitable and find yourself wanting to enjoy a enrapturing story... buy this game. You won't regret it <3

It took me a long time to finally sit down and play this game. Now that I am away from home and only have my crappy laptop to play games I thought I'd give this one a try. I love the graphics and the one song that accompanies most (all?) of the scenes. Sadly, the game didn't do it for me though. The story (that most people loved!) is okay but not more. There are a few fundamental problems that made this game not really enjoyable. First of all, the controlls are HORRIBLE. You almost only play with your mouse (movement, interaction) which is tedious to say the least. Then there is this one annoying minigame you have to complete over and over again in the first Act (click the squares). Not rewarding in any way, just annoying. In Act 2 this specific minigame is replaced by other, equally bad "quests" (catch someone while riding a horse etc, shoot weird zombie people????). These quests almost made me rage quit. The controlls here become even worse for some reason and at some point I was only smashing buttons hoping to move on in the story. The quest that you have to do over and over again (collecting memories) is tedious and boring and extremely repetitive... But what bothered me the most was the was the story was told. John's life is told backwards and many "secrets" are only revealed later on. Which lead to me having forgotten most of them at their reveal since I didn't really get the problem in the first place. I never really got an emotional connection to the two love story characters either. Also had to look up the "tragic mistake" in their relationship that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. The (good) ending also felt kinda forced to me as the whole story was really melancholic and tragic only for everything to be resolved in the end. The game also didn't want to end. There is cutscene after cutscene in the last 1-2 hours, most of which would not have been necessary imo, it just dragged on. The last scene was kinda nice and a good ending for John but it didn't feel like the right ending to the story of the game for some reason. I was a bit disappointed by the game tbh, all the positive reviews made me hope for a more enjoyable experience. But don't let my review discourage you, many people liked To the moon, it just wasn't for me.
