About Trek to Yomi

About this game

Developed by Leonard Menchiari & Flying Wild Hog and published by Devolver Digital.

Take control of Hiroki, a samurai who swore to protect his village to his dying master, who died to bandits during a raid. Fight in 2D environments, enjoy cinematic and gorgeous graphics, and immerse yourself in the world of Trek to Yomi!

A Unique Visual Style

Trek to Yomi's visuals stands out greatly, being inspired by old classic samurai movies. Take control of Hiroki, a samurai, and embark on a quest across gorgeous environments and areas to fulfil your promise to your dead master!

Fight Like a Samurai

Hiroki has been training in combat ever since he was a kid. A skilled warrior since a young age, take control of all of his powers in your adventure as you'll fight foes, both natural and supernatural, with numerous skills and abilities! Don't fight hastily, however, as fighting haphazardly will lead to a swift death.

A Sworn Duty

After failing to fulfil your promise to your master, take control of Hiroki as he embarks on a quest through life and death to fulfil the promise to his dying master. A samurai's sworn duty is never over.

Good-looking game that's severely lacking in practically all other areas. Boring and repetitive combat, pointless puzzles and unexciting story. When they first teased the game it looked promising, but this was a huge disappointment.

I like the black and white style. It's gets hard fast, you can't kill enemies with the basic combo. Comboes are a bit hard in the begining. It gets repetitive really fast

As for the unique art style that many players have come to expect from the game, I can assure you that the visuals and story play are quite satisfying. The game completely reproduces the image features of the black and white film period. Although there is no embellishment of any color content, the overall picture of the game still presents very rich details, especially in the processing of light and shadow, the picture from light to dark has a very rich sense of layers.
