Really really great game in the Tropico series. One of my favorites thus far, and I got it at such a steal at Fanatical (as compared to getting it off of steam). The gameplay is superb, I'd say better playability than Tropico 4, but that point is still up for discussion. I like the graphics and coloring of the buildings, which gave the builds a more vibrant feel (as opposed to the boring buildings of Tropico 4). The buildings are also sized more regularly, following the traditional grid placement. It makes your island look more cohesive in a way, since building placement and sizes are more predictable. However, I'm also a bit iffy about the build menu. It feels and looks cluttered to me, and I always end up going back and forth to find the building that I wanna place. Apart from that, I don't have much more complaints tbh. The pros definitely outweigh the cons. If you're into strategy/city building games, this is definitely one up your alley.

Tropico is a well-known simulated business game. After inheriting many advantages of the previous game, Tropico 5 also adds its own characteristics. Tropico is different from other simulated business games. Each game resident is no longer presented in the form of data. In the game, you can check all identity information of each resident, including name, family, address and so on. Because of this, the goal of operation is no longer just high-yield. It is equally important to improve the satisfaction of different residents and prevent resistance. Low satisfaction will directly lead to the failure of the game.

Not much has changed in the core gameplay or presentation versus Tropico 3 & 4 but the different eras do add some of variety, even if the implementation isn't perfect.

Tropico 5 - Complete Collection Review

Sam Jones
Staff Review
The Complete Collection contains all of the DLC for Tropico 5. If ever there was a good time to realize your dream of being the dictator of a Caribbean island, it's now. Oppress your citizens like never before with either a communist motherland or a fascist state, or something in between. The list of UN conventions and laws to ignore are endless.
