About this game

Developed and published by Worldwalker Games LLC.

Procedurally-generated Narrative Adventure

Embark on a quest with a unique seed, unique heroes, and explore the narrative adventure through the eyes of your characters. Watch them grow from humble beginnings, farmers and civilans with improvised weapons, to heroes, legends, and myths.

Every Decision Matters

Watch the story of your heroes grow and evolve as you face the hardships of a hero's life. Gain new powers, weapons, and trinkets to help you on your journey, accompanied by old injuries, pains, and age. See as your heroes evolve and grow into older versions, fall in love, and have children...

A Loop Unlike Any Other

And watch those children begin from humble beginnings. Use the new heroes to experience stories with unique personalities and see how theirs unfold as you grow to care and love for them, too — a multi-generational tale that spans several years.

From the Age of Ulstryx, to The Enduring War, and the Monarchs Under the Mountain, you'll have countless campaigns to play through, and numerous heroes — both new and old — to adventure with.

This is a very interesting game that is like a hybrid turn-based combat RPG and a virtual comic book. Also that this game is procedurally generated makes it a lot more interesting. Games like Wildermyth makes me think about the golden age of gaming (the 90's and the early 00's) when the imagination was a lot better than the current day AAA-studios have.

Great character driven story generator. Unlike any other tactics-rpg, every action has at least some importance.

Wildermyth is a very innovative story-generator roguelite with turn based tactical combat. It is rather light on complexity and difficulty. Instead it focuses on (your custom) characters' stories told in comic style. The writing style works really well - it is mostly lighthearted, strongly inspired with poetry, which is unusual in gaming, and often running into abstract humour. It fits very well with art and music and the entire presentation is gorgeous. Story telling aside, this game features one of the most unique magic systems I've ever seen. Instead of conjuring fireballs, mystics of Wildermyth use surrounding map elements to throw at their enemies. A chair can become an explosive barrage of wood, a pillar can be used to hurl rocks, light sources can be used to blind your enemies. Specialised mystics can gain access to more sophisticated options, like a tornado made of small objects or a prison made out of a barrel. Characters can get even more interesting by undergoing a transformation. There are plethora of different forms with different stages and effects. As an example, a character can become half fire elemental or replace their eye with a magical gem. The fantasy world is pretty innovative as well. It features 5 groups of pretty unique enemy factions. Each has its own campaign which depicts them in detail. A campaign in Wildermyth will play out during a course of 50 years. Some of your characters can retire before the final stage. Or they can get too old to reliably heal between combats. To let you play more with the characters you loved the most, Wildermyth employs a legacy mechanic. A characters surviving a campaign, or even a dead character which has been commemorated, can be used in a different campaign, retaining their transformations and some of their skills, but not age, relationships and equipment. Wildermyth's pacing is really good. Campaigns are divided into parts which make them good breakpoints between sessions. Fights are short and meaningful. Your enemies can easily kill your characters given an opportunity, which gives encounters just enough tension to make them interesting. Comic stories have very good length and, unless they are repeating, they never overstay their welcome. While the game is procedural, I fear lack of combat depth and finite number of stories will make replayability limited, but the six campaigns in the base game easily provide full game worth of content. Overall, I found Wildermyth to be a great experience and...

Very nice indie rpg with several events that are partially randomized. This is the closest I've played to a game providing a similar experience to dungeon and dragons.

Lots of good things about this game! Storytelling is great, engaging and humorous. Strategy layer is cool with lots of things going on. Combat is pretty good with decent variety, if not tons of it. The legacy system makes for a great addition as you progress through more campaigns. The character progression is pretty random, with one or more of my characters far outpacing others but generally this just makes you feel like one of your party is awesome. I really like the opportunity system where events can change character aspects in big ways. I think the only thing holding this title back from true greatness is the character combat animations. The overall art style of comic pages and paper cutouts works but it's a big part of why I didn't grab the game sooner. I've also heard this from a couple of friends as their hesitation to pick it up. The long and short of it is if the characters would animate when moving, casting, shooting, slashing, etc. I think it'd have been even more successful.

Me and my friends have been playing Wildermyth for the past few days and having a blast exploring the game and seeing what happens during the game. It's really interesting to see where the RNG and our decisions take the characters.

I had a great time with the campaign I played. This game is lauded for the narrative, and I have to agree. I was immediately engaged with the characters. Considering I'm not particularly fond of the pop-up book art style I got over it quite quickly because it helps bridge the gap between snarky banter between cutesy characters and the slightly broody fantasy theme quite well. The combat is fantastic and manages to innovate in the crowded field of xcom-alike tile- & turn-based dungeon crawler. I often hate magic systems but here there are few feeble fireballs but you get to instantly throw the whole scenery at your opponents. With that and random encounters which change my characters and their behaviour significantly, I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. Absolute recommendation!
