If you played games in the 80s and 90s, you will definitely recognize all the arcade games. The only real problem is that you might have forgotten just how tough some of those games were - you might need to spend countless tries to memorize a level in order to get through it, and I don't really have the time or patience for that again.

Fun to play. Could be longer, especially the shmup section. You'd probably spend 2 hours or less completing the game.

I thought this was an excellent (but short) game. It oozes personality.

It took me straight down memory lane. I really enjoyed playing different styles of 80s games. Music is on point, just an overall good game.

My Video Review can be found here: https://youtu.be/uEqK-YVM09Y 198x is a really great tribute to the arcade games from the 80’s and early 90’s. It has many pros like interesting nostalgic story, mixture of genres in one game, retro atmosphere, challenging difficulty, easy accessibility, nice graphics, great ambient soundtrack and retro sounds along with great narration. There are also a few things that I dislike - all parts of the game are short and lack more complexity that it feels more like a demo than the full game and the absence of local multiplayer is almost crime here. Is it suitable for fellow Gaming Fathers and their families? I would say yes thanks to its short levels, easy accessibility and challenging yet not frustrating difficulty. Pros: - story - atmosphere - multi genre game - difficulty - accessibility - graphics - soundtrack - narration Cons: - length - complexity of games - absence of local multiplayer I have really enjoyed this nice nostalgic trip to the 80’s and thus I am giving 198x Thumbs Up and VideoGaming Father’s Index 7 out of 10 - recommended with some discount.
