It's just as I remembered it as a kid. Controls are a little jank sure, but it's still a good game. I really wish they'd do a remaster of this and the second game and then make a third one. BUT yes, it's a good game.

Good game, but the PC optimisation is dreadful

I’m sure there’s a good game here, but I can’t recommend it on this platform as the PC optimisation is dreadful. There are only a few in-game options, the saving and checkpoints are weak, the menus are flat and have weird button choices and in the game proper, there are bugs and glitches galore, like falling through the floor and suddenly appearing enemies. The music may be the classic Star Wars themes, but they are of poor quality and are lazily added in (if they even play at all). The lightsabre combat is awful, with you constantly getting stun locked between the enemy and the scenery and the block function, like most of the controls, is frequently unresponsive. Trying to select targets or even aim your force powers in the right direction is far harder than it should be. But it does give you the Star Wars power fantasy with over the top force powers, crazy ragdoll physics and frantic battles against recognisable Star Wars foes in iconic Star Wars settings. It’s pretty basic, with repetitive mobs of similar enemies and simple platforming segments over large empty monochrome levels which are graphically quite dull to look at and not that exciting to play. The enemy AI is dumb which means it’s never too hard to progress, but the bosses are harder than they should be simply due to the cheap tactics they use rather than any real challenge. There’s some skill progression and character customisation and although the story’s quite predictable, it does its job. The custcenes are well animated with likeable characters and even have a few bits of humour. There’s a good amount of content which is sometimes fun to play and I can see how it could have been something special but currently, it’s a mess. The bonus missions are a lot better made and were quite fun, if a bit short, so I do recommend them.
