This game felt incredibly fun - usually I get skeptical of 2D side-scrollers because I worry that they don't feel very engaging, but the messenger was anything but. I couldn't keep myself away from the game! The controls felt super responsive, the dialogue was fun and witty, art direction was great, and I couldn't get the soundtrack out of my head.
It brought feelings of nostalgia to me but everything felt pretty fresh at the same time.
Typically I don't write reviews but this game feels worthy of having its praises sung.

The game is fun, breaking the 4th barrier more than once. However, it is also quite difficult and can be frustrating at times. So much so that I quit halfway through because the boss was getting on my nerves. So, if you have a low frustration tolerance or suck at gaming like me, better skip this one.
