About Dawnsbury Days - Good Little Children Never Grow Up

About this DLC

This expansion adds a new level 9 adventure that takes place after the events of The Profane Barrier. In Good Little Children Never Grow Up, you enter a haunted orphanage to rescue three children who have ventured there. But as you seek them out and discover the dark truths of the orphanage's past, you may come to face even more terrible adversaries than before.

Level up to level 9

The story of the Dawnsbury Four continues at character level 9:

  • Gain new class features such as the rogue's debilitating strikes or a kineticist's second gate threshold

  • Learn powerful level 5 spells such as cone of cold or banishment

  • Take level 9 ancestry feats

  • Equip new items and etch more powerful runes

Make use of your skills

In a bit of an experiment, this adventure makes much heavier use of skills and dialog than before. Make skill checks to recall knowledge, sense motive, convince others in conversation or take special actions, both in-combat and out.

For this adventure in particular, I'd recommend Religion as a particularly useful skill, though other skills like Nature, Society, Diplomacy or Occultism will certainly find a use as well.

Non-linear exploration maps

The adventure consists of five maps, two of which are heavily nonlinear: You can explore rooms of the orphanage as you choose. While you must find and rescue the Tarnak children you've come for, how much of the orphanage you explore is up to you.

Perhaps you want to focus single-mindedly on your main objective and not risk your life on dangerous side-ventures. That's a good strategy! Or perhaps you want to minimize damage, gain extra resources, find and recruit new allies, and learn more on the what dark events really happened in the Hedgebird orphanage twenty years ago.

Perhaps you want to even risk everything in the process. After all, you won't make the same mistakes the old administrator made, will you?

New monsters, hazards and puzzles

While this adventure is smaller in scope than the Profane Barrier, it's full of new content:

  • New monsters, both famous (like the Shadow Demon) and unusual (like Zetogeki, the basalt lizard)

  • New hazards, such as hair-trigger traps or a certain dangerous illusion

  • Secrets that allow you to discover more about the haunt

Importantly, this new adventure, albeit taking place entirely at character level 9, has more words of dialogue than all four chapters of the entire base game put together. There are many NPCs you can talk to, choosing your options in dialogue, and several secrets to uncover.

Multiple endings

If you win, the adventure will end happily — as do all Dawnsbury Days adventures — but how much you discover and what fate befalls some of the characters you encounter will depend on your actions throughout the adventure.

A Dawnsbury retelling of a classic adventure by Sneak Attack Press

This adventure is based on the classic short adventure Good Little Children Never Grow Up by Sneak Attack Press. The adventure was originally written in 2010 for the 4th edition of the world's oldest roleplaying game, but has since been converted to many other systems.

In partnership with Sneak Attack Press, here we present this adventure adapted as a high-level PF2E adventure with more powerful foes, and set in the bright and optimistic adventuring world of Our Point of Light.
