First off, if you are stuck at the slayer picking screen, you have to install the Windows Media Feature Pack, dunno why, took me a few hours to figure it out accidentally and get the game running. The game is good, great visuals, altough mirrors have no reflections, not even fake ones, that's weird for 2023. Gunplay, melee weapons feel good, the damage models are great, the story is a lot more engaging (but not serious at all) compared to the first game which was really dry and dull. I think 40-something bucks for 10-20 hours of mindless zombie slaying fun is a good deal. Not a memorable game but a nice fun ride after work for a couple of weeks.

It's a big disappointment compared to the original and Riptide, they were so much more fun. It's not open-world like the originals, and you can't drive around in a vehicle like the originals. Graphics are nice - stunning in places, but the zombies respawn too quickly in areas that you've just cleared. But at least killing them is visually impressive, even if the control system is a bit weak. It's a once-through for me on this game, that's if I feel like completing it. I'd recommend it if you like zombies, but not so much if you loved the freedom of the original.

Good times and zombie brains

Dead Island 2 is just pure, brainless fun. Combat is satisfying and the locations you go to are varied and fun to explore. It feels more generic and leaner due to the change in the level up system but the game is really hard to put down. Also runs great on the Steam deck!

Great game. Co-op sadly limited to 60 FPS, since anything above that will horribly desync players. It's the first time I played a game where my personal FPS affected network stability, but it is what it is. Game looks great and combat is fun. Game was, however, very easy, which is a shame.

A gore fun romp that isn't quite fault.

The game definitely doesn't shy away on the gore factor. It is a lighter story than the last Dead Island and Riptide but it does give you a fun and wild romp through zombie infested areas. My only complaint are the few bugs I've encountered and the crashes. Been working through them and still having a fun time.
