You have to merge dogs into larger and larger dogs, which itself is a simple concept, but to add to this, the dogs might have traits (e.g. barky, who startle and move away nearby dogs when they land, thus increasing the chance that similar dogs touch and merge). Also when you reach certain milestones you are given possibility to upgrade some dogs in your deck - but if you don't reach the milestone you must choose from some bad modifiers.
And regularly you can go to the shop where you can buy tags that modify the game.
Furthermore when you win a game (typically by reaching the largest dog), then you unlock a new deck of cards that means different starting conditions.
