About Planet Alcatraz

About this game

Planet Alcatraz is a 3D role playing game with isometric projection. The player travels through the game world and fights against enemies in the real-time mode. In a general sense Planet Alcatraz can be portrayed as a non-linear adventure with lots of shooting. Several genres are mixed in this game but despite that fact it isn't stuck between them and appears to be a classical RPG that is based on a specially developed system.

The action takes place on prison planet Alcatraz. Its inhabitants are inveterate criminals that were banished there for the life term for their terrible crimes. The main objective of the game is to control a sabotage group that consists of the only one person in the beginning and enlarges through the game. The player has to use all sorts of resources and means to accomplish the mission.

Key Features:

  • Absolutely unique universe
  • Creation of the main character allows changing basic characteristics and appearance including facial animation based on LifeMode technology
  • Tense atmosphere determined by deep immersion to planet's criminal world
  • Comprehensive dialogue system allowing the player to choose the way of behaving and communication on his own
  • More than 100 kinds of cold steel and firearms
  • More than 200 characters involved in dialogues

The game have very unbalanced system. You gonna think ahead and build ranged skill? No the game constanly force you to cqc, you spent all skill on melee? To bad the game make your character more easy to hit

Surprisingly fun game but extremely buggy. When I accidentally tab out of the game it doesn't load back in correctly and i am stuck with a black screen and have to wait for my computer to realise that the game is broken. Even after saving and trying to propperly close the game it bugs out. As for the game itself: the story is nothing too special, though I like the idea of a prison planet with its own unique hierarchy. Some plans and goals are somewhat weird and uncomprehensible, there is a quest log though that you can console if you get lost. Quicktravel is a thing and the map lets you know where you have to go. The graphics are surprisingly good as well. Less so in the cutscenes - those are look very unnatural and like 10 years olds tried to do a little theatre performance. If the issues with the game bugging out weren't there, this would be a recommendation but that issue is just too severe to ignore.

Not great, not bad, above average game, despite it's wonky translation and flaws

Planet Alcatraz is a D-tier CRPG, with mediocre combat and archaic controls. The graphics are quite poor, but they do bring back nostalgia for that era. The main reason to play this game is the voice acting, which is incredible. It's something to experience, but outside of that there's no reason to play this game over any other CRPG
