Pan Dimensional Being
I swear everyone has a Kart game out now. Seriously look for Garfield Kart and Hello Kitty and Sanrio Friends Racing. Those are both real things on Steam right now. Despite that though Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is a real stand out.
Yeah we all love Mario Kart, but Sonic racing makes a lot more sense. Ever since Sonic R for Saturn Sega has been trying to get a 3D Sonic based racing game to work. This games predecessor is fine and all, but Transformed adds a lot of new content and is well worth the upgrade.
The ability to Transform from Kart, to Boat, to Plane reminds me a lot of Diddy Kong Racing, and in a good way.
It controls smooth, the selection of characters is vast enough and interesting enough, and it's a lot more fun and intuitive than the crappy Sonic Riders games.
If you need a fun kart game to challenge your friends who don't have a Switch then this is definitely the top pick on Steam. Unless you guys are really weirdly into Garfield. Not judging.

I bought this and Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 at around the same time. After reading reviews, I expected this to be way better but that isn't exactly what I found. It is the better game objectively, in terms of most things, however a few little details let Sonic down. Firstly the graphics aren't too crisp at all. There's is a soft focus style effect for me, which is quite off putting. My biggest issue is that this game hates my plugged in, Xbox controller and randomly disconnects it or sometimes loads with it connected but it does nothing. It is quite infuriating and is always an issue somewhere along the line. Kart Racers 2 while quite bland compared to this game, looks better and has no control issues, so I have spent more time with that than this.
Don't get me wrong, the tracks, cars and presentation of this are all good..it's just let down by a poor graphical choice, that I imagine is intended to cover over a few cracks.
More like a 3.5/5 but given no half options, it just edges to a 4.

Be aware this game hard locks on newer hardware, particularly on water based areas. There is a fix by downloading something and putting it in the files. Kind of disappointing and difficult to tell with older games which might not be compatible with your hardware.
