About this game

It's been 25 years since fans of Bethesda got a new universe to explore, but the wait is over! Always In Control

Like Bethesda's other best-selling titles, you have control. Female, male, blonde, brunette... it's all customisable! How the characters look and who they are is up to you.

Resourceful

In Starfield, the planets offer many resources to collect so that you may upgrade your gear and modify your weapons to be battle-ready for the next big fight!

Make It Yours

Characters aren't the only customisable in Starfield, as it wouldn't be a complete galactic experience without a vessel. Not only will you be able to customise the exterior and interior of your spaceship, but also upgrade it so that it's ready to take straight into real-time space combat!

The Galaxy Is Yours

Once you've made your character and readied your ship, it's time to explore the countless planets and environments available! From rocky moon surfaces to colourful and strange wildlife: Starfield invites everyone to explore the over 1,000 planets!

As a preface, I have put over 100 hours in to this game. I wanted to like it, but instead it put me to sleep over a dozen times. -The story is dull, and the live action cut scenes just exist to allow you to practice your headshots. The quests are extremely repetitive and there are few, if any, consequences for your actions with each of the factions. Choices are more or less pointless, and the people you can't kill could populate a city. -Game resources/art/gameplay for the most part seem to be pirated from other Bethesda games. There are only a few planetary location layouts which are cut and pasted planet to planet, a couple caves, a couple pirate bases, a few settlements, some useless planetary "feature"... on repeat. So much for exploration. -Space only exists to have spaceship battles, all of which are determined purely by how much upgrading you have done to your ship. If you think you can explore space from your ship, just try flying to the nearest planet... -There are 1000 mostly empty, mostly lifeless planets, where each landing site generates its own map, which have to be explored on foot, where toxic fumes and cold weather magically penetrate your space suit and damage you... seriously, you are in a space suit which protects you from the cold emptiness of space, why should you care about cold rain or that you walked through a cloud of methane? Also, apparently since humanity figured out space travel, we forgot how to build and use planetary vehicles, so expect to have to walk about 5 minutes from site to site. -And finally, the cutscenes... use the menu system to bypass the cutscenes or you will spend 10 minutes each time you want to travel between planets staring at cutscenes and loading screens. If there was a minigame on the cutscenes/loading screens, you would forget which one was the game that you were there to play. At this point, the only reason I don't ask for my money back is that I hope the modding community will be able to make something interesting out of this. Fingers crossed folks.

At least it satisfied my curiosity. Soulless, empty, and boring. Stick to the classics, new Bethesda games have been going downhill lately, and with this entry, I can predict the quality of the next Scrolls game.

Unfortunately it was never going to live up to the hype. It's been slow to pull me in, the many, many loading screens do not help. It has it's moments, you can tell this was the guy that did Far Harbor vs some of the previous work, but you do need to dig for it, speaking of dig, explore, this game rewards you for looking everywhere. I'm hoping it'll grow on me, just wasn't the immediate hook I was wanting or expecting. On the brightside, minimal bugs, nothing game breaking.

It's not perfect, and it may have a long way to go. Between Bethesda and the community it's clear this is a foundation to build from. A great start to what has the potential to be a fantastic game.

The opening sequences and an actual hook into this game are near non-existent for me. I found exploration of barren planets pretty repetitive and unrewarding. The default UI and inventory is terrible, lack of any instruction for crafting choices, but fortunately the dedicated bethesda modding community provides enough updates and workarounds to cover these lazy and bad development choices. It's very Bethesda, and if you like that I'm sure you'll love it, otherwise you'll not be missing out on anything if you skip this, or wait for a sale, it'll only get better with time with the modding community improving it.

DO NOT BUY DLC BEFORE YOU PLAYED. I finished the main quest and I don't want to start the dlc at all. It's a disastrous gaming experience that leaves only questions and emptiness. After reading Bethesda's Creative Director's Responds, I understand how hard it is to make games. It deserves my special comment. Don’t let anyone be fooled by these words. 10 / INFINITE By the way, congratulations to Starfield for winning "Most Innovative Gameplay" at the 2023 Steam Awards. Wow, it proves that gaming experience is not important.
