Resourceful

In Starfield, the planets offer many resources to collect so that you may upgrade your gear and modify your weapons to be battle-ready for the next big fight!

The Galaxy Is Yours

"I really do love this game. Yes, Bethesda doesn’t match some of its peers in many places, but in part that’s because it’s trying to do everything, all at once. But if you...

It is a good game. Looks stunning when you have the hardware to run it on 4k ultra. The start is rather slow and the tutorial is not really giving you a "Wow" feeling. However once the game fully opens up it is great fun. The traveling and space combat take some getting used to but it is nothing that some practice cannot handle. I have not encountered any issues with the game. It runs smooth and no crashes yet. PC port complaints are invalid. It is hardware related. Definatly a good start of a huge game, a must buy!

Starfield is easy to pick up and cuts out the boring parts of space travel. But it is not a shallow game. There is ship construction with semi-complex options and balancing to play with. There is also outpost construction, you can create 8 at start but if you specialize in this tree you can increase this limit. Outposts can even be automated with container and fabricator connections to possibly allow space trading and industrial factories. The campaign is pretty good and also infinitely repeatable (spoilers). You also get Starborn (aka Skyrim's Dragonborn) powers when you find and complete a temple, only found two, heard there are tens of them. Graphics 3/5 Audio 4/5 Gameplay 4/5 Story 4/5

Starfield is worse than Fallout and Skyrim. There is no open world, it's only closed instances, and even on planets you just have a few points of interests with nothing between them. Don't go into Starfield expecting to explore a world like you would in Skyrim/Fallout. The skill tree is boring, and only serves to unlock features that should be unlocked by default, such as pickpocketing or ship building. The gunplay is fine, the selection of guns however is very small. The quality of the story is similar to other Bethesda games. Just walking around cities your quest log fills automatically just passing by people talking. Despite those short comings, I still had fun going on missions, docking on foreign spaceships and clearing them, visiting the different cities in the galaxy and becoming overpowered.

I couldn't help expecting jumping into Starfield to be like the first time I played Fallout 3, and the mods that got you to space, and later when starting a game of Outer Worlds. Now expectations can ruin your experience so stay open-minded. It's got that same depth and freedom as Outer Worlds and Fallout 4 as you can visit different planets that you fast-travel to, build bases, and mine/survey as if it was No Man's Sky. The immersion is a bit staggered by loading and hyperspace jumping animations but it's a necessity for a game full of getting to different places to complete objectives. Every planet feels like a new adventure waiting to happen and after over 20h it still feels fresh. The choices, the into-character immersion, it's there. The sci-fi and future "NASA" ship and space outpost designs are a welcome style considering they could have went a space punk road knowing Bethesda's history with Fallout games. It's got some pull that keeps you saying 'just one more mission' so it is a bit addictive for those who like the genre. A space journey that hits just right. Starfield is a ride. The game invites you to carve out your own path, make choices, and get lost in the side quests, or no quests just wandering around testing the sandbox's limits. It was easy to lose track of time and get wrapped up in the NPC narrated stories that chain pretty well.
