Engage in exciting close-quarter combat using the series' trademarked Evolved Flex-Range Linear Motion Battle System. This is an older JRPG that isn't as complex as newer games. It does has enough complexity to keep you busy with micro management, but it can be brute-forced if you don't want to get into every tiny detail. The characters play a little too hard on their archetypes, but that's just par for the course in these games. Of course the story has to go out of its way to become "save the world" as well, but would you really be playing a video game if that weren't the main premise? If you are new to JRPGs then you could do worse. There is no exorbitant amount of DLC or season passes, there is no online competitive features, and there is no having to connect to a service. Its all self-contained like a nice story book.
