About Viscerafest

About this game

The year is 3796, and you are Caroline. A bloodthirsty, psychopathic mercenary who wants nothing more than to marry her wonderful boyfriend Athens Fetter. Problem is money's tight, and rings aren't exactly cheap. But thankfully there may be hope for her yet, as a warlock named Cromune has acquired a rather hefty bounty on his head. He's being accompanied by a small fraction of the U.S.C. (The United Scientific Conglomerate) Lead by Dr Mortice. Which means he's got a small army defending him. But what's an army to someone who's taken on a legion? What're a few hundred soldiers to death incarnate? Nothing but a slaughter... Nay... A viscerafest.

Fantastic Boomer shooter in a cool colourful retro style, Viscerafest is a Sci-Fi Fantasy Singleplayer Arena FPS with minor Collectathon elements. Fight through hordes of aliens and eldritch monstrosities wielding a slew of powerful weapons. I thoroughly enjoyed this game, long enough to enjoy and not short enough to forget.

Act 3 can't come soon enough

This game is amazing, and this comes from a non-boomer shooter afficianado. The game is fun, the guns varied, the enemies varied enough between act 1 and 2 to keep you on your toes, and the puzzles short and to the point. Story is good too, have to say you'll be waiting on pins and needles for act 3 like the rest of us though.

Viscerafest looked like a cool shooter with unique graphics that i was looking forward to playing for a while. Now, i have played quite a few levels and given the games a few chances to get me hooked but i just feel kinda meh about it. It's not a bad game but many of the choices made by development don't vibe with me. ammo is nor provided in large quantities, i often ran out of the "normal" ammo and then had to use my shotgun etc whose even scarcer ammo i wanted to safe for specific enemies. if normal ammo was provided in amounts that prevents you from stupidly shooting at everyone and everything i'd understand but i feel that it was just not enough for normal use. if i am not mistaken you also don't start a new level with refilled ammo but with whatever you had left from the last level you completed. My second issue is, that you can only safe during a level when you have found a consumable safepoint (and there are not many of them). It happened multiple times that i died towards the end of a longer level and hadn't had a chance to save, died and had to restart from the beginning. This is really frustrating, especially because you often get lost or don't know what you are supposed to do. my last death was caused by lava that randomly flooded the room and i couldn't find a way up fast enough. So, yeah, not really my game. might be perfect for people looking for a challenge but i was looking for something more relaxing than frustrating...

Love the art and fast paced shoot'em up style. Pretty punishing if you don't land your shots.
