Key information on the upcoming beta and how to get involved

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamic's upcoming action-adventure game Marvel's Avengers arrives later this year on September 4th, and with it brings a new story of epic proportions as Earth's mightiest superheroes are pushed to their limits against the evil MODOK. Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Thor and Ms Marvel all feature in the game, which includes a vast single-player & co-op campaign with a whole host of upgrades and character customizations (see our recent round-up to find out more).
Ahead of release, Avengers fans will get to play a beta version of the upcoming title, allowing up to four players to come together in online play. Here, we've got the lowdown on when to expect the beta dates and how you can join in.
When does the Marvel's Avengers beta start?
So, there are a number of dates pencilled in for the Marvel's Avengers beta - with the first being on August 5th to August 7th. The next beta will be available from August 14th to August 16th.
Finally (for now) the third beta for Marvel's Avengers will run from August 21st to August 23rd.
What platforms will the beta be available on?
The first beta for Marvel's Avengers is for PS4 players only on August 5th to August 7th. However, this is a private beta only for those who have pre-ordered the game on the PlayStation 4.
Pre-ordering the game will not only get you early beta access, but also in-game bonus items such as the Marvel Legacy Outfit pack, Nameplate, Ms. Marvel emote and Dynamic theme.
The August 14th to August 16th beta, again, is a private beta for those who have pre-ordered on Xbox One and PC, as well as PS4.
The August 21st to August 23rd beta will be an open beta, so gamers on all three platforms mentioned above will be able to jump in!
No news or confirmation on Nintendo Switch for now, sorry portable gamers.
How do I download the Marvel's Avengers beta?
For gamers who have pre-ordered the game, it appears that a code will be sent to your linked email address, which you'll need to redeem at the official Marvel's Avengers site.
For those jumping in who haven't pre-ordered, a beta version of Marvel's Avengers will appear nearer the open beta event's launch in August on the PlayStation Store, Xbox/Microsoft Store and Steam).
