You Should Play LEGO: The Skywalker Saga Even If You Don't Like LEGO Games

I've been playing LEGO games practically my whole life; although I stopped playing them for some time, I still followed them closely and wanted to buy them. It's been a couple of years since I played the latest LEGO game on release — LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1–4 at the time — and I knew this had to change with LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

When I finally got my hands on it, I was amazed by the sheer quality of the game; with voice acting, new scenes, more gameplay options, and large and vast worlds per level, it all felt like a welcome experience in contrast to the linear nature of The Complete Saga. As I advanced through the game, I continued to be shocked by the sheer abundance of content and things to do; even after I'd played five hours, I was sure I hadn't even begun to scratch the surface.

While observing (and gawking) at the gargantuan amounts of content, I noticed that the LEGO franchise has changed for the better. If it wasn't because of the blocky characters, I would not have recognised this game as a LEGO game because it simply had so much to do and so much life. It wasn't until I was playing through the race sequence as a young Anakin Skywalker that I realised: everyone should try this game. The amount of well-implemented content, different gameplay styles, and items to find make this a completionist's dream. Only a short few hours into having The Skywalker Saga and playing it, I'm already in love with it and itching to move on to the next level. I strongly urge all players — both fans of the LEGO games and not — to try out LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, because it is a great title, even as a standalone.
