Cosmic Star Heroine

Great little game. This has some of the most new and fresh combat for a game I've played in a long time. The story didn't quite win any awards with me, but I still really enjoyed the combat and abilities all the way through.

Play it if you like Chrono Trigger.

I feel like this game is very good. I would 100% recommend for anybody wanting it. but that is just my opinion

Great throw back to the turn based rpgs of old. Interesting characters and story! Would recommend for anyone into those old school RPGs.

Won't lie only got about 2 hours into the game. But getting some old school rpg vibes off it. Enjoying the heck out of it tho

I was very surprised by the quality of the game, and how much it engaged me! While I didn't finish the game yet, after 8 chapters I can say the following good things about it: 👍- Simple/straightforward story/characters, that still feel original and surprising. 👍- A combat system that is quite feature-rich, and rewarding when mastered, although also very easy if you choose easy difficulties. 👍- Retro graphics, music, and styling that, even if not always super-polished, are very "characteristic", giving the game a unqiue feel. 👍- Clean, almost kids-friendly atmosphere, that still retains enough character and variety of themes to entertain adults. It's difficult to find truly negative sides, but I will try: 👎- As mentioned, graphics are sometimes unpolished, and this could be a let-down for some, although it wasn't for me. 👎- Possibly because it tries to be a bit kids/teenagers-friendly, mature themes are msotly absent, so if you look for those, no luck. 👎- The combat system and UI could have been done slightly better/clearer perhaps, although once again this was no downer for me. Recommended especially as a game to enjoy together between father and daughter. :)

Great throwback art. Music is superb. If you played JRPG's in the 90's on Super Nintendo you will love this title.

Picked this up for just $1, so overall I really can't complain, this was a fine RPG to spend a few days 100%'ing over the course of around 15 hours gameplay (on easy difficulty just to see the story aside from one achievement on the hardest mode). However, I feel this game borrows just a *bit* too much from Chrono Trigger, without innovating enough of it's own stuff. It's got the "walk up to Magus" with mechanical lights flickering on as you approach a certain boss, basically a 1-to-1 "Leene Square" in a cyberpunk future-y setting where it feels a bit out of place, and even the "Black Omen view over the horizon" shot, amongst other more simple allusions in the writing and spritework. It just seems to be trying too hard to push references in your face, which detracted from enjoying what was unique to this game. Speaking of that, on a more positive note, there's some really nice animated 2D cutscenes with great art here. And with 10 characters to recruit, there's plenty of party variety to experiment with once you're past all the parts that force you into a set group. This was basically the next RPG I was eyeing after finishing a few other indie RPGs, and for the price, it was "OK". Not stellar, but engrossing enough to where I didn't put it down until it was finished, so I think that deserves a 4 out of 5.
