About Epistory - Typing Chronicles

About this game

A fox with three tails, a girl out of ideas, and your keyboard.

Epistory is an atmospheric adventure typing game that tells the story of a writer lacking inspiration who asks her muse to help write her latest book.

In Epistory you play the muse, a fictional character in a world where everything is untold. Your adventure begins on a blank page, but the world will soon become larger and livelier as you gather inspiration, solve its mysteries and defeat its enemies. From movement to opening chests and fighting in epic battles, every element in the game is controlled exclusively with the keyboard.

As you progress and explore the fantasy origami world, the story literally unfolds in the writer’s mind and the mysteries of the magic power of the words are revealed.

Your Official Epistory - Typing Chronicles Steam Key features:

  • A beautiful paper craft world.
  • Mysterious puzzles, magic powers and deadly enemies to defeat in adrenaline pumping epic combats.
  • A series of fragments and inspirations points to unfold the story as you explore the origami world in the writer’s head. But there is more to the story than meets the eye…
  • Total keyboard control.
  • A dynamic difficulty system that evolves to fit each players’ skill set.
  • Competitive Arena Mode.
  • English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian and Polish language with voice overs in English. The game supports several keyboard layouts (QWERTY, QWERTZ, AZERTY, BEPO, Dvorak, Workman and Colemak)

I always enjoy good storytelling paired with challenging gameplay, and this game simply has it all. Of course it may be difficult for those who do not touch type. However if you do, this game should give you a unique experience. Also you can change the language for practicing other keyboard layouts, so it has educational purposes as well.

Who knew that a game asking you to practice typing could be fun? Epistory asks you to explore a fanciful papercraft map while using the power of words to defeat swarms of evil creatures. Fast and accurate typing earns you points during the adventure, which allow you to unlock upgrades and reach new areas. Epistory won't be the deepest or most exciting game you'll ever play. Pacing is very relaxed (at least until you mistype a crucial word during one of the challenges and urgently start hammering your keyboard to try and survive). Statistics of your typing speed and accuracy are kept if you want to look for the, but aren't flaunted. Anyone with average typing speed and acumen should be able to complete the game, at which point you'll have seen nearly everything - there isn't a lot to draw you back into the world later.

Its a game, and a fun one. I didn't notice going in but by the time I finished the game my typing speed had certainly increased! To me, it's one of the best ways to increase typing speed

Great idea, poor execution

I got bored fast. While the idea is great, I didn't feel like I was properly learning typing as I did much more effectively from the keyboarding classes and software I had growing up.

Epistory has a beautiful origami-like aesthetic that feels special and unique. For a typing game, it's surprisingly entertaining and even challenging at times. Originally, I purchased this game as a lark -- just to try something new -- but I enjoyed the experience so much that I've added other typing games to my wishlist. Definitely worth checking out!
