About this game

Plan your strategy and undertake real-time combat missions, in this sequel to the best-selling tactical game Red Solstice!

Welcome Executor!

It's the year 117 After Earth and you have a very important mission. You were awakened to lead the Cell, a secret taskforce that was assembled to counter the threat of the STROL mutant invasion. Take command of your squad to fight the mutants and find a cure to the virus that threatens to end mankind.

Red Solstice is an interesting game but is unfortunately riddled with technical issues and design issues. It is not a game meant to be played offline but the online skirmish isn't that fun either. The AI companion is the biggest problem in the game, you can give them basic command but they'll often confuse the command and end up ruining the run for you. For example, you can order them to open up lockers to get ammo, but if an enemy is nearby, the AI will take out their heavy weapon and start attacking the ground or walls and kill you instead. The AI also only have a barebone version of their class skill that just cannot be of much use. Enemy balance is also a big issue, some enemies are so hilariously unbalanced that you'll need a very specific set of gear and class every time you go out in fear of running into them. As much as I like this game, it's not something I can fully recommend unless you are prepared to have a flawed and sometimes frustrating time.

Definitely an amazing successor to NOTD mod for Starcraft if you played back in the day. It's very similar with upgraded graphics and fun maps. Unfortunately the community in this game is dead. You'll be lucky to find more than 5-10 rooms at any given time.

RTS/RPG. I liked RS1 and RS2's more of the same and a lot more polished, but kind of overpriced IMO, w/campaign DLCs on top. I can recommend it on sale and with friends, but bear in mind there's more DLC to come.

Really solid strategy game, it's basically real-time XCOM with zombies. There's leveling, a class system, and a whole suit loadout system. It feels like the deployment points are too easily used up, however the missions are surprisingly dynamic with a narrative so my problem with them is moreso that I want to play the game rather than miss out on missions because I have no ability to deploy. This feels like a great game for non-gamers to play with their gaming friends or partners.
