Sayonara Wild Hearts is a dreamy arcade game about riding motorcycles, skateboarding, dance battling, shooting lasers, wielding swords, and breaking hearts at 200 mph.
As the heart of a young woman breaks, the balance of the universe is disturbed. A diamond butterfly appears in her dreams and leads her through a highway in the sky, where she finds her other self: the masked biker called The Fool.
Journey through a custom-written pop soundtrack, chase scores, and set out to find the harmony of the universe, hidden away in the hearts of Little Death and her star-crossed allies: Dancing Devils, Howling Moons, Stereo Lovers and Hermit 64.

Played on Steamdeck. Very interesting concept. Normally I would say it's an artsy album before being a game but the level design and mechanics clearly show inspiration from Ikaruga, Rez, Jak 3? The result is a great flow that lets you focus on the music and the pacing. The only negative is that the "cinematic" approach makes it hard to know exactly when you control and when you don't.

Remember when after a hard day at work, you just went home, closed the door to your room and put your favorite pop album at full blast and for one hour you couldn't help but feel at peace with the world and smile? Me neither, but this is how this game made me feel. It's the perfect definition of a comfort game - great music, simple gameplay, lots of heart. Of all the games in my library, this is the one I star whenever I need a quick pick me up.
