About Styx: Master of Shadows

About this game

Enter a dark fantasy world and become a masterful assassin with your Styx: Master of Shadows Steam PC key. In this infiltration game featuring RPG elements, you'll sneak, steal and assassinate your way through as Styx, a Goblin two-centuries of age.

Deep inside the vertiginous and multi-layered forsaken Tower of Akenash, where Humans and Elves protect the World-Tree, source of the Amber - a powerful and magical golden sap - is hidden Styx’ chance to understand his true origin... and to make a fortune at the same time.

FROM THE DARKNESS

Prowl through the huge, miles-high Tower of Akenash, completing various missions (assassination, information recovery, etc.) and avoiding detection. Progress in the shadows, assassinate your targets in close combat or orchestrate 'accidents'.

NOT YOUR AVERAGE GOBLIN

RPG mechanics let you unlock new powerful skills, impressive special moves, and optimized equipment. Amber will grant you spectacular powers such as invisibility, 'amber vision, and the ability to clone yourself.

I have mixed feelings about this game. On one hand, it's a solid, dark-fantasy RPG, which I totally dig. On the other hand, I've never been any good at stealth games and stealth definitely plays a roll here too. While it's not necessarily the most hardcore stealth mechanic out there, it was enough to make the game difficult for me. If you are a stealth fan, defer to reviews by other stealth fans to decide if you'll like this game. For me, this game falls right in the middle of the spectrum.

Very mediocre game. Good mechanics, good gameplay, but absolutely nothing outstanding. And, unfortunately, the game was delayed a bit, because the further you go, the more repetitions there are - some levels have to be played twice, and one has to be played three times. Yes, the direction of movement and tasks are different, but given the specifics of the game, you still need to check the entire location and visit every corner of it. And it's getting tiring.

Staff Review
An awesome stealth game with RPG mechanics. The lore is cool, the world is no doubt fantasy, yet is believable. It's best to avoid head-on fights though as sticking to the shadows proves to be a more effective approach. Whatever play style you bring to the table, it doesn't change the excellent story.
