About Wildermyth

About this game

Developed and published by Worldwalker Games LLC.

Procedurally-generated Narrative Adventure

Embark on a quest with a unique seed, unique heroes, and explore the narrative adventure through the eyes of your characters. Watch them grow from humble beginnings, farmers and civilans with improvised weapons, to heroes, legends, and myths.

Every Decision Matters

Watch the story of your heroes grow and evolve as you face the hardships of a hero's life. Gain new powers, weapons, and trinkets to help you on your journey, accompanied by old injuries, pains, and age. See as your heroes evolve and grow into older versions, fall in love, and have children...

A Loop Unlike Any Other

And watch those children begin from humble beginnings. Use the new heroes to experience stories with unique personalities and see how theirs unfold as you grow to care and love for them, too — a multi-generational tale that spans several years.

Wyldermyth is easy to pick up, but is not without it's depth. Progression and challenge seems fair, and the customization is fun enough. The writing can be fairly funny, offers something interesting each chapter. A great baseline to grow from.

I think that the game is fun to play. It has good replay value because every time you play a new campaign it feels like it's a different story. My only problem with the game is that when you're playing coop it feels a bit messy since everyone takes their turn at the same time.

I came to this game in what is probably an unhealthy way: with the very highest expectations. It had come up over and over again in "best of 2021" lists and game reviewers were waxing lyrical. I don't think I need to say it's a bad game to suggest those expectations weren't (or at least haven't yet been) met. The cardboard aesthetic is nice, although I like the monster design much more than the human characters, which are just a bit cutesy cartoony for my taste. The gameplay is challenging and some of the fighting is really good fun - the idea of the magical characters (mystics) "interfusing" with objects is really interesting and often enjoyable. The hunter and warrior classes complement the mystics fairly well, although the warrior skills feel a touch dull compared with the others. I think I was expecting something spectacular and revolutionary from the character development and storytelling and that's probably where I feel most underwhelmed. The writing is lovely (I really love the idea of crediting each writer for their respective contributions), but I'm not compelled by it. I like the poetry, but am indifferent to much of the narrative. Perhaps I just haven't played enough (or well enough), but characters die quickly and relatively easily. You can commemorate their death, and even bring them back, but from the reviews I was expecting something epic here, some kind of masterful reimagining of the fantasy game character, their story and their progress. I'm not convinced this game has come up with that. Their characteristics - greedy, cowardly, brave, hotheaded, romantic, snarky, etc - seem strangely limited and in some cases juvenile. "Goofball" seems like an attempt at whimsy, but one that seems more than a little bit out of place. I should make it clear, I don't dislike this game and would certainly not say "Don't play it". I'm going to keep playing it. There's a chance as I get deeper into it, some of these misgivings will evaporate. But I reckon a true masterpiece - which this game was hailed as by more than a few reviewers - grabs you pretty early on. I'm entertained, sometimes engaged, but yet to be grabbed.

I like the stories. Battles are challenging.

When I play a game I really like to be able to play it over and over again. When one of my heroes died early on I made the mental note not to put that character in dangerous or risky positions in the future. That was a sign that this game has tremendous replay value. I also missed a cue to begin a love story. When the pretty hero said we're just friends it was both funny and at some point every man's nightmare. It is a great game. Can't wait to start my second run through. I almost forgot, the game play seems like the usual turn based style. It is balanced but can get difficult very quickly if you don't clear areas quick enough.

Cute, fun RPG, even better with friends. Choices matter and make your characters different for each playthrough, "random" events make every game unique.

In the short time that I've played it so far, I've enjoyed how unique Wildermyth is. A mixture of TTRPG, choose your own adventure, and a tactics game of your choosing. The graphics immerse you, while giving off a paper/table-top vibe. The story-telling through a comic book-like creates a cool atmosphere for the game as well. I like how you can be as involved with the creation of your characters as you'd like, and also how much you can play with the difficulty of the game, creating a bit of replayability. I recommend this to anyone who has played D&D and is looking to scratch that itch, but can't because of being an introvert, a pandemic, or just haven't had the chance to create a group. Dive into a well-created world and take on a fun to play, hard to master game.
