This is a puzzle game, and not a full fledged vertically scrolling shooter. Kind of a mix of Puzzle Fighter II and a head to head shooter. By making large combos you can dump more enemies on your opponents side.
You play against the computer or another player, and I recommend playing with someone else over playing against the computer. I can only get one or 2 "levels" into the game before losing against the AI.
It is much more fun to play against a human that isn't perfect. This was an arcade game designed to take your money quickly after all.
Honestly I would prefer a straight shooter in the vein of Cotton / Magical Chase vs the system in this game.
