I was on the fence about this game for a long time because of the lukewarm release reception and the price which was initially set very high compared to similar games. Turns out it's a really solid RTS in the style of Company of Heroes with a great storyline which in itself is definitely worth the price Fanatical was offering. Even with some minor unit pathing issues and a few strange sound issues (briefly clipping audio), it's without doubt one of the best RTS games since CoH and once you get used to the micromanaging aspects rather than the traditional doomstack rushes of many real time strategy games, it's really satisfying to complete missions and a lot of fun.

I really enjoy this game. I am currently playing through the campaign. I am about half way through and I'm loving the story. This game is really a clone of COH. If you ever played that game then this is basically the same mechanics. I have not tried coop or multiplayer yet but that's definitely on the to do list. Do I recommend the game? Yes, if you like RTS games.

Classic style RTS akin to Company of Heroes. Also akin to Company of Heroes can be repetitive mission to mission, but that is to be expected. If you like that style of game, the setting and story line different enough from the norm to make it interesting.

Iron Harvest is a squad-based RTS with a Dieselpunk aesthetic that's inspired by artwork and lore from the popular board game Scythe. The setting is a soft sci-fi alternate universe in the 1920s, with warring factions fighting in Eastern Europe. The factions are somewhat asymmetric, but each of them have units that are essentially either Dieselpunk mechs or infantry with different class types (eg., grenadiers). Most of the factions were inspired by a specific country, such as Poland (Polania Republic), the USSR/Soviets (Rusviet Tsardom), and Imperial Germany (Saxonian Empire), The game mechanics generally resemble Company of Heroes & Men of War. There is a bit of base building and resources, but the focus by far is on combat and managing your units, pushing through certain objectives and parts of the map. There are various modes of play, including some PvP options. First, for the (primarily) single-splayer modes: Campaigns (the story-based campaigns); World Map (an open-ended World Map mode where you seek to conquer a large map), Missions (which includes a skirmish mode to do one-off battles on small maps). Finally, the Multiplayer includes several PvP modes, such as a Quick Match (a matchmaking unrakned game), Ranked (competitive PvP with rank), and a Custom Game, mode, which is common in many RTS games. Considering all of this, I'd recommend this game if you're interested in squad-based RTS games and some quirky, but fairly decent story-driven campaigns. However, don't expect huge armies, extensive resource management or much base building in this game, in which case you'd be better off looking at other RTS games such as various Total War games, Age of Empires 1-4, or Starcraft. The PvP aspects are decent, but Finally, if you're weighing whether you'd like to purchase the Deluxe Edition, I'd recommend the Deluxe Edition of Iron Harvest (ie, this version) over the standard edition of it. This is because one of the included DLCs adds another faction (it's essentially the equivalent of the US) and another story campaign (caveat: I haven't played this campaign yet).

Decent game can be a bit challenging at times with the troops you have.

Worth for the price of under 20, not really worth the original price tag due to a lack of responsiveness and general diversity. The game can be classified as a strategy game only in name but not in spirit. The ascetics of the game is on point, but due to how the factions interact with each other and overall unit compositions the game will get stale over time for anyone trying to make this as a major purchase. It is good as a secondary game for strategy gamers and interesting overall. Possible changes/balances to the game can make it more viable, through an increase on resource rates + a higher military cap will certainly help it overall.
