A Delightful Escape

Jake
I was hoping for a bottomless tub of LEGO bricks, and I guess LEGO Worlds delivers. You have access to lots and lots of pieces, and they fit together the way they do in real life. Unfortunately, sorting through those pieces and trying to position them in 3D space is a tedious nightmare. This is wish fulfillment by way of a monkey's paw. What I didn't expect was how much fun it would be to simply explore a LEGO world. Unlike most LEGO games, EVERYTHING here is built of bricks, and you're free to manipulate all of them. Can't find the entrance to a pyramid? Throw a bomb or two and make your own. Need to cross a river of lava? Build a bridge. Tunnel underneath. Make a helicopter. Each planet is procedurally generated, to mixed effect. Areas are haphazard and repetitive. On the other hand, it feels like anything could be hidden anywhere. Mission structure, likewise, can get pretty sloppy, but there's enough room for creative improvisation that it's hard to get upset about the weaker tasks. I have spent dozens of hours as a tourist in galaxy of virtual ABS plastic, and I still often return for more. Despite being a disappointing building toy, and even in the face of some iffy game design, there is no denying just how much joy I find in hiking through LEGO Worlds.

Worst Lego game

This is definetly the worst Lego game ever, the unfinished version was great but then they made it user friendly to kids so everything is just so blank and boring

Lego worlds is much different than what i had imagined, sadly. I was pulled in by a description of huge worlds to discover but the story islands are actually rather small with not much to actually discover. Building is somewhat discourages or made difficult by having to first scan "new" stuff (plants, animals, people etc) and then having to buy the blueprint before being allowed to build the thing. In addition, the controlls are clunky and unintuitive.
