Very good game in it's own right, and an excellent sequel.

Every SteamWorld game--at least the ones that have made their way over to PC--has ruled. But SWD2 allows Image & Form to refine what made its predecessor so fun, making Dig 2 not only a very creative Metroidvania, but also one that feels polished to its gills.

I loved the first Steamworld Dig and like this one too. It builds upon the first game and adds so much more. Well worth the money :)

Compelling gameplay, sufficient story

I love the Steamworld universe, and I still think the original Steamworld Dig is probably its finest entry, so of course I had high expectations going into this game. In terms of gameplay, I was not disappointed - this takes the compelling digging, upgrading, fighting loop and does a pretty good job of making it just that little bit tighter. In terms of story, I thought I would be happy; the first is very story-light, and this one tries to deepen the lore, as it were. Unfortunately, I think the lightness of the original's story worked in its favor; the extra story bits made this drag just a little bit more. It's still pretty darn good; it just isn't quite as compelling as the first.
