"It’s got nothing on Final Fantasy at its best, but it’s still an excellent example of the genre with some fun twists on RPG traditions."

This is a departure from the classic Tales formula. No world map to walk and fly around on, just one big interconnected world. Towns with sprawling fields or forests in between and around them. Lots of ruins to explore with some being optional. The battles ditch the side view for a third person style, it works. The equipment system seems very convoluted at first but is pretty fun to work with once you start collecting a variety of items with different skills attached to them.

Great game, a blast from the past. If you love RPGs and have never tried the Tales series, this is a perfect place to start. Interesting characters, fleshed out world, good narrative, and very fun gameplay.
