About this game
In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, but rather as a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with a lack of food, medicine, and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.
The pace of This War of Mine is imposed by the day and night cycle. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading, and taking care of your survivors. At night, take one of your civilians on a mission to scavenge through a set of unique locations for items that will help you stay alive.
Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them for longer-term survival. During a war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.

I like survival games but I was expecting more from This War of mine. Really not sure if I would recommend this game or not, but I’m going to give it a head’s up, but giving it a low score of 5/10. The good aspects of the game are the story (if you play on the story – you need to get the DLC) and the aesthetics of the game. However, the game is a bit too slow paced, it is too hard to develop your home (I’m guessing it is on purpose, trying to mimic the difficulties of civilian populations during war times), combat is oversimplified, and after a couple of tries, you start losing interests (base game too similar). I guess it would be a better game if it would have different difficulty settings, so that you could enjoy more base building or trading or exploration, depending on your playstyle.

It's a survival sim with gripping stories. Even if it's not your cup of tea, you should try it just for the atmosphere and the art style. Maybe we should force politicians to play this game but I really doubt they are capable of feeling anything anyway.
