WRC 8 -- Short Review - Graphics: WRC 8 is in 2022 still a great looking game. After a crash you might notice the occasional low res textures in the scenery or rock face but when blasting by at 150 km/h these aren't noticed. Overall the game looks great with some spectacular views and weather effects. - Gameplay: Gameplay is what you should expect from a rally game. We have the traditional modes like Career, Multiplayer, Single stage or race an entire weekend. Single stages can be altered to your likings. Choose the stage, the car, the weather, time of day... The Career mode is very good! In between rallys you can participate in different events. These vary from testing a new car, driving a classic rally car, or trying to finish a stage with a heavily damaged car in extreme weather conditions. About the weather, Weather effects are a nice change of pace. For example a stage can be started in bright shining sunlight, after a few kilometers clouds start to appear en 15 kilometers later the stage ends in rain, offcourse you need to alter your driving style accordingly. Sound & Music: In short sound and music are underwhelming. In a rally game music comes secondary but still adds to the feel when for example watching a replay. The sound from the cars is better but you'll notice that all cars kinda sound the same. There is very little difference between them. Driving a rally car: The steering in the game will make even the hardest rally veterans look like newbies and will take everyone some time to get used to. I played the game with an Xbox One controller and the left thumbstick is so sensitive that even the slightest movement makes the car react immidiatly. I'm not talking about the deadzone of a controller, the responsiveness of the cars when they get some kind of steering input is way to high. In the Options/Settings there is the ability to change these values with some sliders but even on the lowest setting (-10), it's still very twitchy. So if you like a challenge and are willing to put in the effort to get used to the steering, WRC 8 is a very good and beautiful rally game!
