Heists, Hustles & Headshots: 5 Must-Play FPS Games Before Den of Wolves Arrives

By  Fanatical Marketing - 5th Dec 2025

If you’re even remotely into co-op shooters, tactical heists, techno-thrillers, or just want to experience the unhinged joy of four friends desperately trying to extract without wiping… then Den of Wolves has probably been living rent-free in your head for months.

Heists, Hustles & Headshots: 5 Must-Play FPS Games Before Den of Wolves Arrives

And after this high-energy gameplay trailer dropped at the PC Gaming Show, the hype meter has officially spiked.

10 Chambers — the studio founded by Ulf Andersson (yes, the genius mind behind PAYDAY: The Heist, PAYDAY 2 and GTFO) — dropped a brand-new gameplay trailer during the PC Gaming Show. But this wasn’t your usual polished “developer-has-god-hands” footage video.

This was something way, way cooler: the studio invited four real players into their Stockholm office and let them go wild in a previously unseen heist level. Every moment of the trailer is pure, unscripted chaos. Real reactions. Real gameplay. Real “oh god, the spider drill is overheating again.”

Honestly, just from this gameplay trailer Den of Wolves looks phenomenal.

You’ve got robot factory corridors, corporate warfare vibes, human and mechanical enemies coming at you from all angles, and of course, all the intensity layered on top. It’s everything FPS fans will want and from the team that learned all the right lessons from GTFO’s design philosophy and gameplay.

The studio still isn’t dropping a release date — refusing to commit to anything they can’t guarantee (totally understandable) — but impressively, in their press release, they have already amassed over half a million wishlists before a single public playtest has even gone live. Now that's some serious numbers.

So yes… Den of Wolves is coming.
And it’s going to be big.

While we tap our fingers and wait for this 2026 mega-release, it’s time to warm up your squad, tighten your comms, and sharpen your headshots.

So here are our Fanatical Top 5 Must-Play FPS titles available right now on so you can scratch that co-op itch until Midway City opens its doors.

1. GTFO

For players who want tactical punishment, horror tension, and ironclad teamwork.

If Den of Wolves is the future, GTFO is the blueprint.

From the same studio, GTFO is a brutal, methodical, “you will suffer, but you’ll love it” co-op FPS that demands real coordination. No lone wolves here — you talk, you plan, you execute, or you wipe. Full stop.

Play this, and you’ll immediately recognise the design DNA that’s flowing into Den of Wolves: the pressure, the pacing, the razor-sharp focus on organisation and roles.

2. PAYDAY 2

For players who want classic heisting, stealth or loud flexibility, and nostalgic chaos.

Let’s be honest — if Den of Wolves is a spiritual evolution, PAYDAY 2 is the ancestor every fan should revisit.

Run bank jobs with your mates, min-max your builds, and rehearse the art of “totally sticking to the plan until everything absolutely goes to hell.” In our opinion, its still one of the most fun co-op heist shooters ever made, and a perfect warm-up for what’s coming next year.

3. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

For players who want horde combat, FPS ferocity, and weighty weapons.

If you crave intensity, Darktide delivers it in industrial-sized doses. Four players, endless enemy waves, an atmosphere thick enough to chew through, and some of the best FPS weapon feels on the market.

It’s not a heist game — but it’ll train your aim, reflexes, team synergy, and clutch decision-making - giving you pro-like skills. Plus, every run feels like a war story.

4. Teardown

The game for players who want: creative destruction, sandbox heists, infinite replayability - well, why wouldn't you?!

If Den of Wolves has you itching to map routes, create entry points, optimise escapes, or “solve problems” with explosives… Teardown is your playground to become a master of this.

This physics-driven heist sandbox lets you literally reshape the world. Blow through walls, carve shortcut tunnels, collapse entire structures, and craft the perfect extraction path. It’s the most fun you can legally have with a sledgehammer.

And while it’s not an FPS in the traditional sense, the planning-execution loop is exactly the kind of mindset Den of Wolves players will thrive on.

5. Killing Floor 2

For players who want relentless waves, elite gunplay, and satisfying skill expression.

If Den of Wolves has you itching for tight FPS mechanics and some high-pressure teamplay, Killing Floor 2 is a great stopgap game. It’s explosive, fast, and incredibly satisfying — especially when your squad locks in roles and starts melting waves with impeccable deadly precision.

Brutal enemy variants, huge arsenals, and constant pressure make this an excellent “stay sharp” title while you wait for Den of Wolves to be unleashed.

Den of Wolves: The Co-op FPS Game Release of 2026

With this trailer proving that the game is absolutely real — and absolutely wild — now’s the perfect time to lock in your interest. We think that this is shaping up to be the next major co-op moment from one of the genre’s most respected studios.

10 Chambers have been clear: no rushed dates, no empty promises, just uncompromising development and a community-first approach. That alone makes this one to watch.
