I've been pretty burned by Destiny 2 approach to expansions, where content is phased out, although I realized that the key is to see those as tickets for specific content, and not as an old school expansion that you would buy and play as long as you want. If you get in with this mentality, everything will make more sense.
I bought D2 when it came out, and have been playing on and off for years now; this expansion was not on my radar, until I heard reviews; and the best part of the reviews were that the single player story is worth playing alone for the price of the expansion. I am not sure how long it is, but I am about 6 hours in and it is still going
Overall very pleased with the campaign; as solo player I evaluate the content as such; but it is super fun also with friends online or strangers, so can't go wrong with it.
And yes, at one point the story mode will be gone, this is sadly a byproduct of this specific game; but what you get now is well worth the hassle in few years, when this single player content will be removed.
