About Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition

About this game

Developed and published by Beamdog.

Experience the Enhanced Edition of Baldur's Gate, a story-driven 90s RPG set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons. In the Enhanced Edition, the game is run through the upgraded and improved version of the Infinity Engine! It includes the entire Baldur's Gate adventure, including the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion pack and never-before-seen content.

The Setting

In Baldur's Gate, you've been forced to leave your home due to some mysterious circumstances that have thrown you into the path of conflict that has the Sword Coast on the brink of war.

Begin Your Adventure

Create and customise your hero, recruit brave allies into your party, and venture off to explore the Sword Coast! Throughout your journey, you'll find more than just adventure and profit: you'll find the truth once and for all. But remember: actions have consequences.

Beloved Heroes

The original release of the game offered 11 playable characters plus dozens of subclasses to choose from, and you could recruit some heroes to help you along the way. The Enhanced Edition adds three new recruitable heroes and new player voice sets to further customise your hero!

A Classic

Baldur's Gate set a new standard for similar games ever since it came out in the 90s, and now it's back and better than ever! In addition to the content everyone knows and loves, you can also expect the new challenge of The Black Pits — arena-style battles — and new difficulty settings for you to better tweak the game to your liking; now it's possible to focus more on exploration and story than combat and survival! In total, there are over 400 improvements to the original game, including support for high-resolution and widescreen displays!

"A great update for the classic, but not a must-have if you have the original one. If you don't, now it's the perfect choice to live this adventure."

"A very good version of a great classic. A nice way to remember this jewel and to discover it if it´s your first time. But if you have the original and can manage installing...

"Putting aside nostalgia, and putting aside a genuine longing for more games in this vein - yes, Baldur's Gate really is that good."

You know people love remakes, a remake holds a piece of nostalgia, a piece of someone’s childhood within it. But when the remake’s a complete success its importance is automatically elevated to another level such is the case with the Baldur’s gate remakes. A classic, RPG game brought to life, with better shaders and control panel, is nothing but a hit among the old fans, hitting them with their gaming nostalgia making them reminiscence the good old days. One of the greatest console western RPGs, to ever come out back in the 2000s Baldurs gate has made a pretty big name for itself, which is something not to be overlooked. With the third game still in early access and in development stated to be released sometime next year let’s take a deep dive into its highly successful predecessors. ! About Baldur’s Gate I ! Spawned from the popular DnD ( short form for Dungeons and Dragons Franchise ) Baldur's Gate is a series of role-playing games set in the Forgotten realms Dungeons and Dragon campaign setting. The game has spawned two series, known as the Bhaalspawn Saga and the Dark Alliance, both taking place mostly within the western Heaterlands, but the Bhaalspawn Saga extends to Amn and Tethyr. The Dark Alliance series was released for consoles and was critically and commercially successful. The Bhaalspawn Saga was critically acclaimed for using pausable real-time gameplay, which is credited with revitalizing the computer role-playing game (CRPG) genre. Originally launched for the Playstation 2, in 2012 it was announced by Atari that Beamdog and Overhaul Games would be making remakes of the original games. The series was revived thanks to this, bringing in new and old fans alike to the franchise, which also subsequently lead to the ongoing Baldurs Gate III, which is currently still in beta and is handled by larian studios who are renowned for their divinity series of games. Baldur's gate is considered a classic for a reason, it practically defines the RPG genre. Well written, well balanced, but honestly a bit too far to the slow side for my tastes (notably movement is quite boring at times due to taking significant time with very little happening during)

The original classic masterclass of the crpg genre.

The start of an epic story that is still regarded as a masterclass. If you can stand the dated design, this CRPG will sink it's hooks into you and draw you to a world that feels alive in its own way.
