A NEW CASE
Joe Dunn, the owner of a 50s boxing club in NYC, has been found dead. Rising star Bobby Yale, due to take to the ring for the most important fight of his career, has also mysteriously disappeared.
After her father's death, Sonia Dunn has taken over the gym and must deal with its financial woes. In her hour of need, she hires private detective Blacksad to investigate Yale’s disappearance in a sinister case that will take our brave investigator into the darkest, most dismal depths of New York.

I definitely liked this game. At first it felt a bit stiff, not feeling any attachment to any of the characters, but as time passed, I started to like the characters more and more. I'm starting my second run at this.
Positive is definitely that your actions do matter (people might even die or survive depending on what you do). Negative are some graphic glitches and the not optimal camera angle (you might disappear behind a wall etc.). I once had a game breaking bug giving me black screens until I restarted the game. However, one bug in 8 hours game-play is acceptable.

My first play-through of Blacksad took me just under 9 hours.
Blacksad is a playable noir-style crime story set in an anthropomorphic New York City just after WWII. It plays similarly to the Telltale games where you choose how you interact with the character to "choose your own adventure." In addition to that, you are tasked with piecing together the clues you collect along the way to solve the crime. Be aware that themes in the story line may be triggering for some -- like those of suicide and racism.
Pros:
+ Beautiful art style with a rich color palette and unique character design.
+ Great story with plenty of twists to keep things interesting.
+ Highly replayable due to the fact that your choices determine outcomes and consequences.
+ Hall of Fame collectibles hidden throughout the game (do not affect story, but fun to hunt for).
Cons:
- Pacing is a bit slow and there's no way to speed up the dialogue or skip a cinematic you've already seen.
- Voice acting (at least for the English version) is pretty week for most characters (but not all).
- Controls are a bit slow and there's no option to run.
Overall, I think Blacksad is well worth your time and I would definitely play again.
