Gal*Gun: Double Peace

(This game was purchased by me for a friend, I have owned Double Peace on Steam for a long time) Yes, playing this is an easy way to disown yourself, and no, I probably shouldn't have ever bought it, but as a long-time Gal*Gun fan I can safely say that this is the strongest of the three main games. It's not profoundly deep, it doesn't have graphics that demand a 4090, and it isn't the most innovative gameplay experience I've ever bore witness to, but who even cares? It's Gal*Gun we're talking about. GAMEPLAY - 7/10 Being an on-rails first-person shooter doesn't leave a lot of flex room for this game's... well, "game" parts, but the inclusion of mechanics and modes such as varied targets in the form of Ecstasy Shots and Doki-Doki mode respectively are able to provide some reprieve from the basic formula. I say some because while they are present in great quantity, the gameplay boils down to the same formula that - while fun at first - does not owe itself well to replaying at all, something the game actively encourages via its many, many endings. VISUALS - 7.5/10 If I had to narrow down my description of this game's visual elements to a single word, I'd say it is "distinct". In fact, that works as a fair summation of the series as a whole. It is distinct in that when you see someone playing this, there is no ambiguity or room for confusion; you know exactly what they're playing. When your opponents are literal T&A (with a sprinkling of demons and vore monsters) and your only weapon is condensed pheromones, it immediately clicks that this is something truly unique. Whether that's good or bad is up to interpretation, but I approve of it thoroughly. (TL;DR - your mileage may vary, just don't try this at school, kids) CHARACTERS & STORY - 8.5/10 Surprisingly, the strongest element of this high-school shoot-and-lewd-em-up game, in my opinion, ends up being the story. Unlike its successor, Gal*Gun 2, the MC that you play (and around which almost all of the relationships in the game are based) actually has a personality. While that might not sound like much, it sets this game further ahead character-wise than any mainline Pokémon game ever released, and it goes above and beyond by making all of the 5 main "romanceable" girls that you meet have unique, personable characters that help you get lost in the absolutely ridiculous concept of the story itself. The value of the game is not as good as the usual price. After a discount of more than 50, you can play it. The content is still acceptable. You can shoot all kinds of girls freely (actually, you can practice marksmanship, really). The gradual opening of the strategy system of the strategy route gives the game a reason to brush.
