One of the best RPG ever. 100% achievements on Steam. This and FTL. What can I say, it was the first infinity engine game that I played, afterwards came all of them and all of today's, and know what? this is storywise the best of them all IMHO. Sure BG I and of course BG2 are more complete and RPG, but IWD is different and in many aspects, superior, and if you go blindly into it just for a good adventure, you will just hit the point.
Go for it, and be prepared to leave RL for a fair 35 hours at least! (many more for me...)

Similar in style to Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale was one of the best RPGs of its era. Now that it's been brought into the modern day by the Enhanced Edition, it's one of the best RPGs of today. The depth in party customization makes it essential for players who like their RPGs to be about their play style.

This is the most combat-focused of the Infinity Engine games: either create your own party or pick the pre-made heroes and be prepared for long and challenging dungeons. Still, while its main focus is on the gameplay, it does have stories and mysteries woven into the dungeons you explore, and an over-arching story to follow. The chilly, wintry atmosphere with howling winds and desolate crypts draws you in to create the perfect mood. If you liked the combat in Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 or generally enjoy D&D, you should give it a go.

2000's Isometric CRPG with a myriad of technical upgrades, very wordy, needs you to understand the world under outdated D&D rules, challenging but fair. Good back then, but there's better CRPGs now. Not to mean I dont love it myself, brings great memories back!
