About Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

About this game

Take control of a team of deadly specialists in hardcore tactical stealth action with your Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun Steam PC key. Set in Japan around the Edo period, you'll sneak in the shadows between dozens of enemies - choosing your approach when infiltrating mighty castles, snowy mountain monasteries, or hidden forest camps.

Set traps, poison your opponents, or completely avoid enemy contact.

FIND THE PERFECT TEAM

The group is composed of very different personalities. Working together as a team seems impossible at first. Yet over the course of many missions, trust is won and friendships are made. The characters develop their own dynamic and each member will have to face their own personal demons.

One of the leaders of this team is Hayato, an agile ninja, who clears the way through his enemies silently, with his sword and shuriken. Samurai Mugen prefers a more powerful approach and can defeat more fiends at one time, but thus also forfeiting flexibility.

Aiko is a master of camouflage when she distracts enemies disguised as a Geisha. The street child Yuki places traps and decoys enemies towards their deadly fate, while the mysterious marksman Takuma however, relies on his sniper rifle and takes care of the enemies from a distance.

A MASTER OF STEALTH AND TACTICS

You'll have to carefully evaluate your options in order to master the challenging missions. Choose how each of the characters will behave as a team, which one is best equipped for each task and how can they best master the given missions. Come up with your own ingenious tactics to vanquish enemies and complete missions.

YOUR OFFICIAL SHADOW TACTICS: BLADES OF THE SHOGUN STEAM PC KEY GIVES YOU:

  • 'Overwhelmingly Positive' rated Steam PC game.
  • Choose from three difficulty levels to match your skill.
  • Find dozens of ways to take out your opponents the way you want.
  • Explore the beautiful environments of ancient Japan in the Edo era.
  • Play as five completely different characters with their unique skillset.
  • Conquer seemingly impossible challenges where you are outnumbered ten to one.
  • Jump from roof to roof and climb large buildings to attack the enemy from above.

This game is absolutely fantastic. I'm not necessarily a fan of the stealth genre but this game's design is perfectly crafted to achieving a very specific feel. The rules are extremely well-established and consistently executed, and pulling off the perfect execution feels great. The quicksave mechanics are also very robust, especially with how the game holds 3 saves so you can backtrack if you make some errors, and at least on the normal difficulty getting an alarm raised isn't necessarily a game over (and sometimes is worth it) which is something I really appreciate. The narrative is also engaging and very much feels like a Japanese period drama, which I appreciate. There are some odd localization choices between the Japanese spoken dialogue and the English translation (Mugen's use of the -dono suffix is conveyed in the English text with different suffixes such as -chan for Yuki which I found odd, and Yuki's "hai" is left untranslated) but that's a fairly minor quibble overall. The stage designs are where the game really shines, it gives you multiple routes and options, and the challenges and achievements offer great replay value for gamers with more patience and spare time than I have. Being able to organically work your way through a stage through trial and error is a very solid core mechanic and I must reiterate how good it feels to pull off the perfect assassination. It's also interested how differently people can play the game, a friend of mine streamed a bit of gameplay and on a stage I had spent the better part of half an hour on slowly and methodically depopulating he simply ran in with Aiko, dropped some logs on a Samurai and obtained the objective in minutes, whereas on another objective I had executed a daring multi-target takedown he spent several reloads and quite some time trying to figure out how to take the enemies out one by one. The fact that the game gives you this open field and lets you figure it out is an immense strength in both gameplay and replayability. Some segments of stages might feel a bit slow or frustrating, but the amount of good, well-designed stages and segments far outweighs this again minor issue. If I had to think of any one improvement I would make, it would be the ability to watch a seamless replay of your entire stage completion from start to finish. With how the saving works I'm not entirely sure how easy that would be to implement, but I would literally pay extra money for just that feature. I've had some...

Great game, think about tactics ogre but more realistic. This game is rated for steam deck, but i find it way too hard to play with a touchpad, this is more of a mouse desktop game.

Honestly, it really isn't my type of game. I bought it and one more game so that I could get Aragami for 3€, and then I gave the two games I didn't want away to friends. I hope they like them lol <3
