About Sniper Elite 4 Deluxe Edition

About this game

Forza Italia!

Become the sniper you were born to be in the epic third-person, World War Two shooter Sniper Elite 4. With this Steam key, you’ll venture through 1940s Italy – under Nazi control – as elite marksman agent Karl Fairburne, currently posted in the Mediterranean.
The tide of the war is turning, and allied forces are starting to make up ground in Africa and Europe – it's time to do your duty for the world.

FIGHT FOR FREEDOM
Will you use your regular ammo, or your extremely precious silenced ammo? Can you kill your target instantly, or must you steady your breath before doing it? Is it windy? Have you thought about the effect of gravity? There are plenty of things to consider before taking a shot, it isn't just as simple as pulling a trigger.

BRUTAL WAR, BEAUTIFUL WORLD
A vast, beautiful open areas of the Mediterranean are your shooting range. These expansive areas mean that, not only are there many enemies for you to hunt down, there are also many ways in which the enemy can hunt you.
You are not a god, you are a lone operative in a hostile environment, so be cautious.

KILL CAM RETURNS
Returning to the latest game in the franchise is the bone-splintering X-Ray Kill Cam. Watch as your perfectly timed shot smashes through muscle, bones and organs – causing enemy soldiers to crash to the floor with fatal injuries.

Maybe the best stealth game I've ever played since the original PS1 Tenchu and Tenchu 2. Or maybe better to say that it's the one I've had the most fun with, which isn't quite the same thing. What I tend to hate most about modern shooters is the tendency towards damage sinks and frantic action, because given the choice I'll always be slowly emptying the base from a distance. Sniper Elite 4 is probably the best experience of that I've ever had, with workable stealth, enemies smart enough to respond but not so smart that their response is realistically boring (like those Splinter Cell levels where detection = instant loss, as it probably would in any genuine infiltration of a military base), and levels large enough to both maintain an open-world feel and support a wide variety of approaches. (Snipe most of them, yes, but mine a body here and set a tripwire there...) The best part is how differently it plays at different difficulty levels and the fine-grained control over that difficulty. On the easiest preset it is essentially impossible to lose. If you get seen then you can just run towards enemies and full Rambo them. To die you have to do something like run through a minefield or attack a tank with a pistol in the open. The minimap and magic binocular tagging (see someone once and you will know exactly where they are forever!) are amazingly exploitable. The breath mechanism makes it all but impossible to miss with a rifle even at extreme long range. It doesn't matter if you're seen because enemies will forget 30 seconds later and just start patrolling over their dead comrade's exploded testicles. (Sidebar: apparently this series is known for its "kill cam", which shows a detailed view of the bullet entering and hitting skull, neck, lungs, heart etc., or indeed balls. You can turn this off.) Conversely, the two hardest difficulty levels ("Authentic" and "Authentic Plus") have realistic ballistics (wind is especially painful) and breath control only steadies the reticle. Scopes and binoculars can no longer zoom. Hitting anyone at extreme long distance is genuinely extremely difficult, let alone getting a perfect headshot. Enemies are very alert. Even UI elements are removed, e.g. you have to rely on heart-rate sounds to determine breathlessness. I find it too hard to be fun and the jankiness becomes more frustrating, but I can see why people like it as a more serious and immersive sniper simulator. For me it's perfect somewhere in the middle, a...

Sniper Elite 4 is a very good sniper game in a nice setting in Italy, with the option to play the campaign in co-op with another player. There is also an alternative horde mode. The Deluxe Edition includes the season pass with all DLC, such as new levels, new weapons, new weapon skins and characters.

Tense sniping action, and close quarters for those who like to get close and personal. Sniper Elite 4 has these in abundance, with an excellent selection of weaponry and vast, detailed locations in war time Italy. With co-op in the campaign for those who enjoy playing alongside a friend/ally, Sniper Elite 4 is the pinnacle of the series so far.

Pretty much just another entry into the sniper elite series, same gameplay and mechanics, different story. Not a bad game, not exceptional either.
