About Sonic Forces

About this game

Developed by Sonic Team and published by SEGA.

In this entry to the Sonic series, you'll experience yet another adventure from the beloved blue hedgehog. Through the classic platform seen in other titles, you'll explore the heated conflict between Sonic, Dr Eggman, and a new antagonist! Sonic Forces is a phenomenal title for fans.

He's Got Help...

This time, the evil Dr Eggman isn't alone in this goal of destruction, as he comes with the help of a mysterious and powerful new villain named Infinite. Together they aim to cause an incredible amount of chaos and destruction!

...So Sonic Needs Help

Our hedgehog hero is struggling to keep up with the power duo, so he's going to need some backup, too! Help Sonic rebuild the army to reclaim the fallen lands and fight against Infinite and Dr Eggman.

Welcome, Rookie!

Aside from being able to play as Modern Sonic (who is voiced by Roger Craig Smith) and Classic Sonic, you'll also have the option of creating your own custom 'Rookie' Hero character —  who can be equipped with a variety of powerful gadgets and customisable items — and the returning character Shadow.

Gotta Run!

As the three characters, fight and run as fast as you can through iconic stages!

Decent Sonic game but nothing special

I feel very neutral toward this game. It's not particularly good, but it's a good way to kill an evening watching some mindless Sonic action, and you can easily beat the game in one sitting. Fist Bump is a banger of a song though!

Not the worst experience, but not good

This game isn't terrible, But it is far from good. The physics are janky at times, the levels are short, and at times tend to just be unfriendly to the player, occasionally launching you off the stage for not taking a turn 100% correctly. The avatar levels are decent, but they often fall into the trap of the levels playing themselves. In one level, I counted 12 seconds where I didn't have to do anything. 12 seconds isn't a lot, but it is when the level only lasts a minute more. The customization options are enjoyable, playing dress up is always fun. The classic sonic levels aren't too bad, but they have such weird feeling inertia. It feels awkward to start moving forward, and has such an abrupt stop. The drop dash from Mania is included, and is a nice plus, it works well, makes things faster and more fun. However, the level design in the classic sonic stages is underwhelming and feel tacked on. Which, I guess is appropriate since classic sonic doesn't seem to have a reason to actually be there. The story is fine, nothing to write home about, but not offensively bad. Nothing further comes to mind.

Good game so far! Pick it up on sale.

I think it is an okay game so far. I have played the first few stages and am looking forward to completing it over time. I feel like that is some issues with the default keyboard controls though. When you start dashing, it will not move left or right even though it seems by the level design you are supposed to be able to do so. Also, I had to adjust the default screen size because it was in window mode and I could only see 80% of the screen.

Modern sonic game that's worse than Sonic '06, but still good

Epic game, could've done with more content. Sonic Generations and '06 still take the lead
