I really like this game. It is a great stealth game (or tactical assassination fun) you can do both.
Your main character is the Styx (the goblin on the cover) and each level contains the main goal with one or more optional goals. The levels are connected by a loose storyline, but the main way to have fun is just to approach a mission however you like. Trigger no alerts? You can. Eliminate all guards. You can. Do a mix of both, you can do that too.
The game is the successor of Styx: Master of Shadows and while the story is not really connected, I would recommend playing this as your second Styx game.
One recommendation though, play the game with a controller, I have not tried to play with a keyboard and mouse and can't really imagine the experience would be fun, it is a 3D adventure/stealth game, not a strategy game, those (3D adventure games) almost always play better with a controller.
For all those who have played Master of Shadows, it is more Styx goodness, just what you wanted from a Styx game. If you liked Styx: Master of Shadows you will like this.

Building on what makes its predecessor entertaining, Styx: Shards of Darkness pumps up the value for money (and game time) with a dark fantasy sandbox world in which players can now join friends and fellow gamers in online co-op. Expect brutal assassinations and humorous comments throughout your adventure.
