About PAYDAY 2

About this game

PAYDAY 2 is an action-packed, four-player co-op shooter that once again lets gamers don the masks of the original PAYDAY crew - Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains - as they descend on Washington DC for an epic crime spree.

The CRIMENET network offers a huge range of dynamic contracts, and players are free to choose anything from small-time convenience store hits or kidnappings, to big league cyber-crime or emptying out major bank vaults for that epic PAYDAY. While in DC, why not participate in the local community, and run a few political errands?

Up to four friends co-operate on the hits, and as the crew progresses the jobs become bigger, better and more rewarding. Along with earning more money and becoming a legendary criminal comes a character customization and crafting system that lets crews build and customize their own guns and gear.

Key Features

  • Rob Banks, Get Paid – Players must choose their crew carefully, because when the job goes down they will need the right mix of skills on their side.
  • CRIMENET – The dynamic contract database lets gamers pick and choose from available jobs by connecting with local contacts such as Vlad the Ukrainian, shady politician "The Elephant", and South American drug trafficker Hector, all with their own agenda and best interests in mind.
  • PAYDAY Gunplay and Mechanics on a New Level – Firing weapons and zip tying civilians never felt so good.
  • Dynamic Scenarios – No heist ever plays out the same way twice. Every single scenario has random geometry or even rare events.
  • Choose Your Skills – As players progress they can invest in any of five special Skill Trees: Mastermind, Enforcer, Ghost, Technician and Fugitive. Each features a deep customization tree of associated skills and equipment to master, and they can be mixed and matched to create the ultimate heister.
  • More Masks than Ever – PAYDAY 2 features a completely new mask system, giving players the ability to craft their own unique mask with a pattern and color of their choice, resulting in millions of different combinations.
  • Weapons and Modifications – A brand new arsenal for the serious heister, covering everything from sniper and assault rifles to compact PDWs and SMGs. Once you've settled for a favorite, you can modify it with optics, suppressors, fore grips, reticles, barrels, frames, stocks and more, all of which will affect the performance of your weapon. There are also purely aesthetic enhancements - why not go for the drug lord look with polished walnut grips for your nine?
  • Play It Your Way – Each job allows for multiple approaches, such as slow and stealthy ambushes or running in guns blazing. Hit the target any way you want, each approach will provide a different experience.
  • A Long History of Additional Content – More than 70 updates since release, including new heists, characters, weapons and other gameplay features like driving cars and forklifts.

Simple principle, well executed. Very fun!

Pretty cool game! It's the same principal, though with different scenarios. This sounded unappealing to me at first. However, after trying the game, I realized that they have implemented the scenarios and trait builds with enough variation to keep the gameplay fun. Accompanying this is pretty good stories and voice acting. In a way; a simple, but challenging game.

TL;DR Overall, it's alright. In terms of gameplay, it's probably what you've seen and expect. The game is very pay to win, and you'll need to grind a few heists before you can buy the best equipment to go stealth or otherwise pick the best approach. I came to this game completely new to the series, so with this review, I'll try to help those like me. Cons - No compaign: The "career" is a couple of heists (exactly the same as those that you'll play online) with a few bonus cash rewards. Absolutely no story stringing them together, cutscenes, or anything of the sort. - Team AI sucks: you can tell the devs want you to buy the game for your friends, because team AI is useless. They can't complete any objectives or carry any loot without mods, and they're pretty much only useful as bullet sponges. However, since they insist on following you, you'll often be followed down the empty street to the getaway van to drop off a bag, only to return to a bank crawling with police. It would make much more sense if you could command a few to stay behind. It sucks even more though to realize that this choice is intentional, as I said. Bad sign when devs make the game worse on purpose so you get the game for friends. - 82 DLCs: Yeah. Nowadays, you can get some bundles (like the Legacy Bundle) pretty cheap (I got the base game for less than a dollar, thanks Fanatical!), but even so, it's not honest as a developer to lock 50 heists behind a paywall (each priced $1-5, although you can always check current prices) when the base game comes with less than half of that. - Pay to win: I guess not too bad since there's no PVP, but still. - Some bugs: nothing gamebreaking, but lacks polish. Pros - Complete freedom: it is worth scouting the location first to find entry points and stealth tactics. The game doesn't guide you too much, so it's completely up to you how to pull it off. It even gives you a map of the area pre-mission which you can draw on with your team. Also, although the stealth is kind of janky, if you get seen, the cops aren't immediately alerted. You can intimidate the person and turn them into a hostage. - Decent loadout options: although more than half of weapons/equipment are locked behind DLC, the DLC equipment is mostly cosmetic and heists can still be pulled off with the base equipment. This is why it pays off to study the map: it may be better to go in with a saw and drill on one map, or a sentry gun or extra armor on another.

Simply one of the best coop games out there, ignore all the folks saying that 'its dead', most of the dlc is rendered 'obsolete' due to most of the new free content they have been adding throught the years being much better than the past OP dlc weapons.

Played this for about 440 hours, with friends and by myself. Whether you like shooter or stealth, hoard mode or level, easy or hard, this one got it all. There is plenty to be had in this game, but most of it is rubbish. That's the downside: only a few weapons that are actually worth using, but finding out which one works for you, is also fun.

My close friends had a hard time playing the game, but I didn't have much difficulty as it was my real profession.

- Introduction - Payday 2 is a co-op 1st person shooter developed and published by 505 Games and released in August 2013. It is a sequel to Payday: The Heist that was launched in 2011. A somewhat similar game to this one is Killing Floor 2. They both are a coop games and in both games you need to confront different enemy waves, but Payday 2 is still one of a kind. It is the only game based on robbing banks and has a lot of content such as guns, skins and maps. You can even get a great price on the Legacy collection with almost all the DLCs in one of the bigger Steam sales (Summer or Winter). - What’s so special about it - This game is one of a kind. It has tons of hours of fun gameplay and if you play with friends it’s even better. You have a lot of maps to choose from, a lot of guns and lots of attachments. And with the addition of DLCs it gets better. You get bonus heists, bonus maps and bonus customizations. There is even a DLC name “Payday 2: The Goat Simulator Heist” so you already know how it’ll be. You can do heists in two different styles. Either strategic, crouching, shooting cameras, not alerting the guards either the more destructive way, killing any guard you see, going full in and getting cursed at by your teammates. Either way, you will have fun. Doing heists is not a simple job. You have to break in without getting seen by anyone. If you kill a guard you need to dispose the body, by that I mean that you need to put the body in a bag and putting it somewhere that can’t be seen. And after getting in you need to be smart too. Someone has to go to put the drill on the safe while the others keep an eye out for other guards. - Art Design and music - The graphics for this game are very good for a 2013 game. Even the gun effects and sounds are very real. You will get very immersed in the high tensioned moments and the details help a lot. The cops are very real looking and the death animations are very well made. The music also helps a lot and sounds very good. It fits every situation perfectly. If you are going in stealthy or fighting the cops in full action mode, the music is set to create the perfect mood for both of them. - Is it still worth it? - This game is indeed getting old and I don’t know how many people still play it but doesn’t mean it is not still unique. The concept of the game is still very interesting and the content is rich. I’d say it is worth it to pick up the Legacy Collection at a very good sale (the summer or winter...

Amazing fun with friends

This game is crazy fun with friends. It is an old games, as it was released in 2013, but the mechanics are solid and the shooting feels actually great. PD2 is still getting updates and the community is pretty much alive and kicking. Totally recommended for the $1-$3 you can get it these days. You can play it solo with bots or online with pubs, it is still fun, but not quite the same. I love coop games and this is one that has given me many hours and many laughs.
