Great battles, which is obviously key to this sort of game, but otherwise the changes from Doom 2016 are a step down. Other than the couple "hell on earth" levels, it mostly takes place in fantasy settings, and constantly highlights the mythical story its telling. Really the best Doom "story" is that of the 90s games, which is completely minimal. I'd also prefer the 90s level design.
While the battles are indeed tricky and fun, overall the game seems to hold your hand more than I'd like.
For all of these complaints, I still give four stars because it's a blast to shoot down a demon.

Honestly, one of my favorite games! Id software is one of the few AAA studios who put alot of detail into games, and it shows! It is a bit of a learning curve, and its like playing piano with how many differnt jeys you need to press. Mick Gordon's soundtrack really adds to it
